The Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation Contributions for the first six months of 2017 The Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation brings its continuous contribution in the cultural, education and health care life of Armenia. In May of this year, through the generous donation of the Hovnanian Foundation, together with the Theatre Workers’ Union of Armenia and the RA Ministry of Culture, “Theatrical Syunik” festival took place. The Festival started on May 19, 2017, with grand opening in Goris and lasted for 8 days, covering 6 cities of Syunik, namely Goris, Kapan, Meghri, Kajaran, Agarak and Sisian, with 18 performances by 10 outstanding troupes from Yerevan: Gabriel Sundukyan theatre, Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theatre, Hakob Paronyan Comedy theatre, Young Spectator’s theatre, Yerevan Chamber Music Hall, Stanislavski Russian Theatre, Malyan thetare, etc. It was a real cultural feast, a long expected gift for the citizens of distant towns and villages of Syunik marz. Next generous contribution, in the amount of $100,000, was made to the 14th Golden Apricot Festival which is going to commence on July 9th, 2017, making Yerevan an international cultural and cinematographic center for the 14th time in a row. Another big contribution, $183,000, was made for creating an Osteoporosis Center in Yerevan, to raise population awareness, as well as for planning events, overseeing research and education, facilitating donations of bone density measuring equipments, as well as organizing conferences in Yerevan. And finally, our continuous support to the local students, one more round of scholarship endowment to the students from socially insecure families. This time, over 800 applicants were selected as Hovnanian scholars for Fall 2017 term. Our Foundation is in permanent contact with our scholars and keeps track of their academic performances. We are happy to note, that all our scholars meet our expectations, constantly provide us with their transcripts and send us letters of appreciation. One of the recent ones is the letter from Vigen Simonyan, a student from the American University of Armenia, who got Hovnanian scholarship 4 times in a row for his studies at the undergraduate school of Business Administration. Here is an extract from his letter: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude for providing immense support to me to graduate Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration at the American University of Armenia. It would have been very difficult for me to accomplish my studies without your generous support. In the future, I am going to continue my studies in Economics, in particular in data science and will be applying for master degree. During summer and autumn I am going to improve my knowledge, I am planning to participate in several projects, do Economics’ research with one of my professors and have registered for data science classes. I am sure I will reach my goals and will make you feel proud of me. Once again thank you!!! I do appreciate your support and hope that one day I’ll be able to support other students like you do. Sincerely yours, Vigen Simonyan”. We truly believe that the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation contributions bring considerable change in Armenia and invest in the strong future of the country. .
