Patton Oswalt Stars in Animated 'Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.'

Hulu presented one new original and two returning series at its turn at the virtual winter gathering of the Television Critics Association on Thursday. Here are looks at each of them.

Patton Oswalt stars as megalomaniacal supervillain Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing (M.O.D.O.K.) in Hulu's new adult animated series Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. premiering Friday, May 21.

Trying to rule the world proves to be tough business and M.O.D.O.K. has run his evil organization, A.I.M., into the ground. Ousted as the organization's leader while also dealing with his crumbling marriage and family life, M.O.D.O.K. has a lot on his plate.

Besides Oswalt, the series also stars Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ben Schwartz, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly and Sam Richardson. Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. is created and written by executive producers Jordan Blum and Oswalt. Brett Crawley, Robert Maitia, Grant Gish, Joe Quesada, Karim Zreik and Jeph Loeb also serve as executive producers.

The Handmaid's Tale, starring Elisabeth Moss, returns Wednesday, April 28, with three new episodes to kick off a 10-episode season. In it, June (Moss) takes her place as a fierce rebel leader, taking on dangerous new challenges.

Besides Moss, the series also stars Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel, Bradley Whitford and Sam Jaeger.

The Handmaid's Tale is executive produced by Bruce Miller, Warren Littlefield, Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Eric Tuchman, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Sheila Hockin, Kira Snyder and Yahlin Chang. The series is produced by MGM Television and distributed internationally by MGM.

Shrill, based on Lindy West's memoir of the same name, returns for its third and final season on Friday, May 7. Saturday Night Live's Aidy Bryant stars as Annie, who has just broken up with her loser boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones) and is bouncing back on to the market.

Besides Bryant, Shrill also stars Lolly Adefope, Ian Owens and John Cameron Mitchell. The series is executive produced by Ali Rushfield, who also serves as showrunner, along with Bryant, West, Rob Klein, Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, Broadway Video and Brownstone Productions. Warner Bros. Television serves as the international distributor.

Hulu also announced the early third-season renewal of animated series Animaniacs, from Steven Spielberg; the greenlighting of limited series Iron Mike, and the seaso-two return of teen dramedy Love, Victor on Friday, June 11.
