INTRODUCTION

HERTFORDSHIRE TOUR, THURSDAY 1ST JULY 2021 BARKWAY VILLAGE, NEAR ROYSTON, HERTFORDSHIRE. SG8 8EB ‘

Starting just 35 miles due north of Charing Cross, the tour takes you down our numerous leafy lanes through old villages where thatched roofs, flint churches and half-timbered buildings abound., and in an area close to and easily accessed from A1(M) and M11.

The Herts Tour is back, come along and enjoy a nostalgic tour of the leafy lanes of N Herts and NW Essex, armed with a 1930s 1 inch OS map and a comprehensive route book (no motorways and lots more railways on the old map!). At the start with you can part take in coffee and bacon sandwiches in picturesque Barkway - plenty of room for your trailer. En route there’s a stop-off for tea and biscuits at a renowned vintage restoration workshop, with a lot of very prestigious metal to marvel at. After 80 miles, back in Barkway, home-made cake and yet more tea will be waiting for you. The Tour is open to all cars made before 1st January 1962 and driven by VSCC members or Members of the invited clubs; Inter Register No buff form needed. MARSHALS: Please volunteer to the Competition Department or email direct to [email protected] DIRECTIONS: We are 4 miles south of the A505 on B1368, between (A1M J9) and Duxford J10 on M11. Duxford is 9 miles from Barkway. Alternatively, we are found 1 mile east of A10, 4 miles south of Royston. Detailed advice will be issued in the joining instructions (those using trailers are advised to take specific routes).

‘Held under the General Regulations, of Motorsport UK (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and these Supplementary Regulations.’

1. Announcement. The Vintage Sports-Car Club will organise a Touring Assembly on Thursday 1st July 2021, starting at Barkway Village near Royston, Herts SG8 8EJ.

2. Regulations. The meeting will be held under the General Regulations of Motorsport UK (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) in so far as they apply to Touring Assemblies, these Supplementary Regulations and any written instructions that the organising club may issue for this event. A Certificate of Exemption 117957 has been obtained from Motorsport UK and displayed at the start.

4. Vehicle eligibility. The event is open to cars made before 1 January 1962 and driven by members of the Organising Club. Cars do not need to have a VSCC ‘Buff Form’.

5. Entering the Event. Entries open on the publication of these Regulations and close on Thursday 24th June 2021. The maximum entry will be 50 cars, the minimum will be 20. The entry fee is £40.00 per car. Cheques to be made payable to VSCC Ltd. Please send a completed and signed entry form to: VSCC, The Old Post Office, West Street, Chipping Norton, Oxon, OX7 5EL. Alternatively entries can be made online at www.vscc.co.uk.

6. The Road Book. Full Joining Instructions will be issued approximately one week prior to the event. A Road Book will be issued on the day, providing full and easy-to-follow navigational instructions and information about local places of interest. In addition, a copy of a 1930s period OS map will be provided. No by-passes or motorways but many more railway lines. Our lanes are unchanged!

7. Registration. On the Day Registration is from 9:00am until 10:30am with cars leaving from 10:00am. Crews should report to the organisers with all relevant documents identified below. Scrutineering is limited to ensuring the vehicle is eligible for the event. It is the entrants’ responsibility to make sure their car is taxed (NB. MOTs are no longer required by law for cars registered Pre-1960), is fully road legal and is insured for such an event on the public highway. It is recommended that all cars carry a serviceable fire extinguisher. All crew members must ‘Sign On’. Anyone travelling in the car must be able to be properly legally seated in the car.

8. Route. The total distance covered will be approximately 84 miles, with various possible stop-offs en route.

9. Driving Standards. Horses, cyclists, walkers and other road user can be expected at many places along the route. Do please give them the appropriate consideration. All drivers are reminded that they should abstain from the consumption of alcohol or drugs during the event.

10. Finish. At the finish, all drivers must report to the organisers to sign a Damage Declaration Form. Crews are expected to return to the finish from approx. 3.00pm onwards when complimentary teas will be served – and must do so by no later than 5.30pm.

11. Trailers. Trailer parking is provided at the start, which is 6 miles away from the finish
