iPhone and restore information

**By performing these steps, it does not guarantee that all information is backed up. This is only a guide to help with backing up personal information**

Create a backup through iTunes: 1. Plug the iPhone into a computer. This should automatically bring up iTunes, if not, open iTunes. In order to do a backup through iTunes, the latest version needs to be installed. To manually update iTunes, select Help in the file menu and scroll to Check for updates.

2. Once the phone is connected, select back up to back up the device.

4. If iCloud back up is enabled, the phone will not back up to iTunes. To verify that the backup finished successfully, open iTunes Preferences and select the Devices tab. The name of the device will appear along with the date and time the backup was created.

1. To enable through iCloud, select > iCloud > Backup then make sure iCloud Backup is toggled on. This will run on a daily basis as long as your device is: a. Connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi b. Connected to a power source c. Screen locked

2. You can also back up manually your device over Wi-Fi by choosing Settings > iCloud > Backup then Selecting Back Up Now

Restore data from an iTunes backup:

1. Connect the iPhone to the computer with a USB cable.

2. Open iTunes.

3. If you have a new or erased iPhone, iTunes will prompt you to restore from backup.

4. Otherwise, click on your iPhone under DEVICES in the left menu.

5. Select Restore From Backup.

6. Choose the backup you wish to sync and click the Restore button.

Restore data from an iCloud backup:

1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into the charger.

2. Select the option Restore From iCloud Backup.

3. Enter your iCloud account and password.

4. Choose the recent backup you wish to restore to your iPhone.

5. Enter any passwords required when prompted.

You will see a progress bar with time remaining as iCloud restores your data. When this is complete, iCloud will begin to download apps. You will see a progress bar under apps that are being downloaded. If you need a specific app first, tap its icon to move it ahead in the queue. To check if the restore is finished, navigate to Settings -> iCloud -> Storage & Backup.

• iTunes Match users can download albums, playlists and songs from iCloud when the restore is finished.

• iCloud backs up and gives you unlimited space for: Purchased music, apps, books, movies and television shows. Previously purchased items may not be restored if the item is removed from the store.

• iCloud backs up and allows 5 GB free storage for: - App data - Home screen icon layout and folders - iOS Settings (including accounts, Contacts, Favorites, and Wallpaper) - Messages including iMessage, MMS and SMS (text messages) - Photos and videos in the Camera Roll - Ringtones

• These items are not backed up using iCloud and must be backed up using iTunes on a computer:

- Music or other media not purchased from iTunes - Photos originally synced from a computer - Podcasts and audio books
