Controlling thatch is one of the most important parts of lawn care . When used on a regular basis, dethatchers reduce excessive thatch build-up that can be damaging to a lawn’s health . Since dethatchers provide gentler, less aggressive action than a power rake, they can be used as a preventative maintenance tool each time a lawn is mowed .
John Deere provides dethatcher extensions and kits, as well as the tow-behind Thatcherator . The Thatcherator includes three operating modes: transport, dethatch, and scarify.
