I. Introductory Rites a) Entrance Procession Cross leads, walking reverently – both torches follow, about 8 feet behind. Cross pauses, at sanctuary steps, for the torches to get closer- then each bow your heads very slightly- before proceeding through the hallway door to return your items. b) Greeting (we remain standing at our kneelers with our hands folded.) c) Penitential Rite d) Lord Have Mercy e) Gloria f) Opening Prayer II. Liturgy of the Word (we sit at our kneelers) a) First Reading b) Responsorial Psalm c) Second Reading (except weekdays) d) Alleluia or Gospel Acclamation (we stand when Father does) e) Gospel (we stand facing Father) f) Homily (we sit) g) Profession of Faith (we stand) h) General Intercessions (6 Petitions) (As soon as the lector finishes the 6th petition, we quickly proceed to the credence table to gather chalice, missal, and water cruet.) III. Liturgy of the Eucharist a) Preparation of the Altar As Father finishes the petitions, all servers walk together to the altar. The 3rd server brings the water cruet. Whoever receives the plastic Gospel stand gives it to the 3rd server. After the chalice and missal are placed on the altar, all remain at the altar. As Father leaves to retrieve the gifts, the cross and “missal torch” will go with him. The server with cruet remains at the altar- until the server with the wine returns. Give the water to him/her, bow, and take PGS to table and gather “washing of hands” items. Whoever receives the ciboria will get to the altar first- and without hesitation, place the ciboria on the altar and wait for lids to be available. The server, who receives the wine cruet from Father, will collect the water cruet from the 3rd server. As Father grabs the purificator from the chalice, he/she goes to Father on the altar- to hand him the wine cruet- so he can hold it with his finger- and then the water cruet. Then the two of you bow together- and return to the credence table. The washing of hands server waits, at the corner of tabernacle steps, for Father to bow, Then quickly move to him to pour a little water over his fingers. Bow to Father before returning to the credence table. b) Prayer over the Gifts– Ending with Holy, Holy, Holy c) The Eucharistic Prayer (The cross will watch as Father is praying with his hands spread apart. As soon as he moves his hands together he will extend them over the chalice- for you to ring the bells once.) Soon thereafter, you will ring the bells 3 times, with a distinct pause between each of them, as Father elevates the Sacred Body, after saying: "This will be given up for you". After saying: "Do this in memory of Me", he will elevate the Precious Blood. d) Memorial Acclamation e) The Great Amen IV. The Communion Rite- (we stand) a) Our Father b) Sign of Peace (Cross takes the hand sanitizer and 3rd server brings last communion bowl to the altar- then all servers kneel.) c) Behold the Lamb of God d) Communion (As Father drinks from his chalice, all servers leave the kneelers to go directly behind him on the altar- so he doesn’t have to step of the altar to distribute your communion. Then return to your kneeler to pray.) e) Period of Silence (As Father is distributing communion to the congregation, the “missal torch” has 2 tasks. (1) Bring the lids, from the credence table, to the altar and (2) then gather the missal, to return it to the credence table. The 3rd server will light both torches-- ask for help if needed). (The cross will return the hand sanitizer to the ledge and then grabs a water cruet.) (As Father returns to the sanctuary, all servers walk to the edge of the altar facing the tabernacle- so we can bow as it’s doors close. Then the cross approaches Father, on the altar, to pour water over his fingers and a vessel.) (The “missal torch” waits patiently until Father stacks the two ciboria on the altar. As soon as they are available, proceed on the altar to retrieve them.) (The 3rd server will wait patiently until the 3rd communion bowl becomes available- to step up on the altar to retrieve it. (Then all 3 of you will bow together and take your items to the credence table. Both torches will remain at the kneeler- while the cross returns to the altar step to retrieve the chalice when Father is finished with it. Then he/she bows to the tabernacle and returns to the credence table on your way to your kneeler. f) Prayer after Communion V. Concluding Rite a) Greeting b) Blessing c) Dismissal (Grab your items and proceed to the front of the altar steps. Make sure the cross comes out first from the hallway door. As Father genuflects at the altar, turn to proceed to the back of church). d) Recessional and Closing Song (Stay in the back of church- until the music stops. Then extinguish the candles in the sanctuary and take everything from the credence table to the priest sacristy. Everything gold goes on the sink except the bells. The rest goes on the counter.).
