PUBLIC INFORMATION & OUTREACH MONTH END REPORT For the month ending July 2020

• District Communications: > One news release was sent on July 13th, 2020 – “The Yellow Fever Mosquito Found Again in Stockton”. Articles were in the Escalon Times and the Lodi News Sentinel. I also interviewed with CPR/NPR. > Nine Spray notices were sent through GovDelivery to +-940 people who have signed up for notification. > The Board Agenda and approved Board Minutes were posted to the website’s home page and Board page of the website. The website calendar was also updated. > I also interviewed with the Escalon Times for WNV activity and mosquito spraying in Escalon.

• Advertisement: > Both print and digital ads ran in the Tracy Press and Lodi News Sentinel. These ads encouraged dumping and draining water, calling in dead birds, and using repellents. An advertisement for geo-targeting along the I-5 corridor in Stockton was developed for use in August. > The digital billboard on Hwy 99 and Clark Rd advertisement ran through July. The first message states, “Mosquito Prevention is Everyone’s Responsibility,” and the second message states, “Dump & Drain Standing Water, Prevent Mosquitoes & West Nile Virus.” > A half-page ad was sent to San Joaquin Magazine for publication in the September issue. > The tri-district radio campaign ran on the following channels in July: KATM - FM, KWIN - FM, KQOD - FM Mega 100, RIVR 105.5 - FM, KSJN - FM (Modesto), KMIX - FM (Tricolor-Spanish), KTSE - FM (Jose-Spanish). Our local purchase includes the following stations: KJOY- FM, and KSTN - FM (the Bull).

• Education & Presentations: > I gave an outdoor presentation to the Lodi Sunrise Rotary in Woodbridge, with 25 people in attendance. > I participated in a series of training sessions from the SJC Office of Education. These training sessions taught three distance learning programs: 1) Padlet, 2) EdPuzzle, 3) Flipgrid. I also participated in several conference calls for evaluating our existing school presentation program and the potential for a new distance learning program.

• Social media: > The following posts were made to Facebook: 1) July 1st, the District created a post for July 4th, and the use of repellents: reached 218 people, 17 engagements. 2) July 10th, the District created a post on lab surveillance and testing: reached 254 people, 13 engagements. 3) July 13th, the District created a post of the news release on the yellow fever mosquito found in Stockton: reached 18,052 people, and 2,258 engagements. 4) July 15th, a repost of CDPH post on mosquitoes biting at dusk/dawn and the mosquito repellent necessity: reached 67 people, 7 engagements. 5) July 23rd, a repost of CDPH on dead bird reporting and a new reporting application for cell phones: reached 62 people, 9 engagements. > The www.sjmosquito.org website traffic report for July shows 8,158 visitors to the website, which is up 428 from last month. There were 263 visitors per day for the month. I updated the invasive Aedes page of the site with the latest local information.

• Other: > I created additional spray maps from Google maps and updated the map index to save time posting spray information. > Upon the new Aedes aegypti find in Stockton, I contacted the Brookside Homeowner Associations management company with educational material and a status update of their neighborhoods. > I developed an advertisement analysis from questions asked to participants of the mosquitofish giveaway. The study is attached.
