Textiles Surging Silk, Mega Event Held in New Delhi Buniyaad Reeling Machines Distributed Mobile-App E-Cocoon Launched Connect to Current -Daily Current Capsules 11th February 2019 Textiles Surging Silk, Mega Event Held in New Delhi Buniyaad Reeling Machines Distributed Mobile-App e-Cocoon Launched Relevance IN – Prelims( about the surging silk event) + Mains GS II welfare scheme for the vulnerable section) What’s the NEWS BuniyaadTasar Silk Reeling Machines were distributed to women reelers from tribal areas at a function organised by the Ministry of Textiles and Central Silk Board Practice of thigh reeling The distribution of the machine is part of total eradication of the age old practice of thigh reeling and to ensure rightful earning to the poor rural and tribal woman reelers in Tasar silk sector. The machine developed by Central Silk Technological Research Institute in association with an entrepreneur from Champa in Chhattisgarh will improve the quality and productivity of Tasar silk yarn and reduce the drudgery of women. The Buniyad reeling machine will not only rid the woman reelers of the painful practice of thigh reeling but also enhance their income and help them live a dignified life. It is planned to eradicate thigh reeling and replace it with Buniyaad reeling machine by end of March 2020. A mobile application e-cocoon A mobile application e-cocoon was launched for quality certification in silkworm seed sector. A compendium on Indian silk industry and state sericulture profile was also released on the occasion. The mobile app e-cocoon will help quality certification in silk worm sector. The mobile application will be used by the Seed Analysts and Seed Officers nominated under Central Seed Act for system and product certification through real time reporting. India is the second largest producer of silk after China and the largest consumer of silk. India's silk production capacity is expected to reach about 38,500 tonnes by 2020 from the current level of 32,000 tonnes. Food Processing Industries Cremica Food Park, the1st Mega Food Park of Himachal Pradesh Relevance IN – Prelims( about the food park ) + Mains GS III (food processing industry ) What’s the NEWS Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated Cremica Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd Know! about the food park The Park is located at Village Singhain Una District of Himachal Pradesh. This is the first Mega Food Park operationalized in the State of Himachal Pradesh. Hamirpur. The Park will give an impetus to the growth of the Food Processing Sector in Himachal Pradesh. The facilities being created by the developer at Central Processing Centre (CPC) of this Mega Food Park includeMulti-crop pulping line with bulk aseptic packaging (24 MT/ hour), Frozen storage (1000 MT), Deep Freeze, Dry Warehouse, QC Laboratory and other food processing facilities. The Park also has a common administrative building for office and other uses by the entrepreneurs and 3 PPCs at Solan, Mandi, and Kangra having facilities for primary processing and storage near the farms. The Park will also provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 persons and benefit about 25,000 farmers in the CPC and PPC catchment areas. The modern infrastructure for food processing created at the Park will benefit the farmers, growers, processors and consumers of Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas immensely and prove to be a big boost to the growth of the food processing sector in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Food Processing Industries To give a major boost to the food processing sector by adding value and reducing food wastage at each stage of the supply chain with particular focus on perishables, Ministry of Food Processing Industries is implementing Mega Food Park Scheme in the country. Mega Food Parks create modern infrastructure facilities for food processing along the value chain from farm to market with strong forward and backward linkages through a cluster based approach. Common facilities and enabling infrastructure is created at Central Processing Centre and facilities for primary processing and storage is created near the farm in the form of Primary Processing Centers (PPCs) and Collection Centers (CCs). Under the Scheme, Government of India provides financial assistance upto Rs. 50.00 Crore per Mega Food Park project. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) also cleared a proposal for construction of 32 roads under phase II of the Indo-China Border Roads (ICBR) scheme. Earlier, the government followed a restrictive policy and areas along the China border were not developed much. Key Points Critical Infrastructure Development in Arunachal Pradesh: Most projects have been earmarked in areas along the China border in the north and northeast part of Arunachal. It includes motorable roads, mule tracks and facilities for porters. It envisages construction of roads and 18 foot-tracks measuring 598 km. This will enhance the capabilities of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), which maintains vigil along the border. These tracks can be used by the Army to supplement the main border roads for transportation of men and material. 1/3 Indo-China Border Roads Scheme: The first phase was initiated in 2005, when it was decided that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) would construct 27 priority roads totalling 608 km along China areas at an estimated cost of Rs. 912 crore and other 14 roads will be built by agencies such as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Some of the important projects include the Darbuk-Shayok-Daulat Beg Oldie (DS-DBO) road and Rohtang tunnel in the Ladakh; and in the northeast, the Sela Tunnel and a road and rail tunnel under the Brahmaputra river with Indian Railways.

The project involves the construction of a road for a total distance of 12.04 km which consist of two tunnels of 1790 and 475 meters. The project once completed will reduce the travelling time from Tezpur to Tawang by more than one hour. The project will also aid travellers in by-passing the dangerous snow-covered Sela top at a height of 13,700 feet. An asset to the Defence Forces The Sela tunnel project will provide all-weather connectivity and reduce travelling time. This aids the swift and fast movement of army troops in Tawang which is a strategically-located district located near the border of China. The tunnel will reduce the travel time between the Indian Army‟s 4 Corps headquarters at Tezpur in Assam and Tawang.

This is the third Film and Television Institute of Ministry of I&B, the first two being FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata. It is the first Film and Television Institute of entire North-East. Abu Dhabi has decided to include Hindi as the third official language used in its courts, alongside Arabic and English, as part of a move designed to improve access to justice. The move will help the Hindi speakers to learn about litigation procedures, their rights and duties without a language barrier. The Indian community in the UAE, numbering 2.6 million, constitutes 30% of the total population and is the largest expatriate community in the country.
