BLUE JACKETS RECALL FORWARD SONNY MILANO FROM AHL’S Columbus’ 2014 first round pick expected to join the club in Pittsburgh prior to Tuesday’s game vs. Penguins

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The have recalled forward Sonny Milano from the ’s Cleveland Monsters, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Milano is expected to join the Blue Jackets in Pittsburgh later today in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Penguins.

Milano, 20, has collected 16-27-43 and 20 minutes in 59 games with Cleveland this season, leading the club in points and assists (tied) and ranking second in goals. He is also tied for the club lead with two shorthanded goals and his four power play goals is tied for third.

Selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, 16th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft, Milano has 0-1-1 and an “even” plus/minus rating in five career NHL games, including skating in two contests this season. He made his Blue Jackets’ debut at the on Mar. 31, 2016 and registered his first career with an assist in the following game at Carolina on Apr. 2, 2016. He has 30-49-79 and 42 penalty minutes in 123 career AHL games. In his first full pro season, he picked up 14-17-31, 22 penalty minutes and was +12 in 54 games for the Monsters in 2015-16 and added 4-4- 8 in 17 playoff games to help the club capture the championship.

The Massapequa, New York native spent two seasons with the United States National Team Development Program from 2012-14 and collected 22-46-68 and 24 penalty minutes in 50 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s in 2014-15. He also notched 2-2-4 in five games for Team USA at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship tournament.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game time from PPG Paints Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
