Suavé Suavé is the Founder of the Hip Hop ConnXion Family Nationwide with branches in Indiana, Michigan and Headquarters in Chicago. Hip Hop ConnXion has taken 1st in the USA and 2nd in the World at the Hip Hop International Championships in previous years and is the only Illinois based dance company to have been awarded medals at the event. He has appeared in various music videos and movies such as, Walt Disney’s ‘Just Visited’ with Christina Applegate, and as a specialist dancer in the hit movie, ‘SAVE THE LAST DANCE’. He was a choreographer and dance coordinator for the recently released movie, ‘DREAMS’ and played a cameo role as a dancer and teacher for the movie working beside Dave Scott whose credits include ‘U Got Served’, ‘Stomp The Yard’ and ‘Step Up 3’. Suavé was the Dance coordinator at the B96 Summer B-bash for Bad Boy world renowned DJ, Bill and performed in front of 60,000 people alongside artists such as P-Diddy, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera and Nelly. He is a performance coach to movie stars, actors and recording artists having worked with artists such as Roshon Fegan (Shake It Up and Camp Rock), Jessy Schram (The Mentalist, House, American Pie, Without A Trace and more) and upcoming singing sensation, Adero. Suavé guest choreographs at numerous schools and universities and teaches hip hop master classes and workshops in the USA. He has taught around the world in in countries such as Norway, Colombia, Ireland and England. He also guest instructs and judges for conventions and competitions in Illinois and overseas. He is currently on faculty for the Manhattan Dance Project (MDP) National/International Tour. Suavé is also the creator and producer of THE ONE Urban Dance Showcase which is the largest annual urban dance showcase in Illinois, alongside producing other major dance shows. CLAREMONT News The Events Committee has received so many requests for a repeat performance of the mind reader and superb entertainer who wowed us in 2015! We are so pleased to announce that Mark Stone, The Mentalist, has agreed to return for another performance at Claremont on Thursday night, February 21st. This won’t be a repeat of his last performance. He has an entirely new show for us! Registrations for this exciting event will begin mid-January. Seating will be limited so make your reservations early. Details will be in the Registration Book and in the February newsletter. The Claremont Women’s Club Program for Tuesday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m. will be “STIR IT UP”....”LET’S COOK!” With a presentation by Marilyn Herzog, Claremont resident and food columnist for Bethany Living Magazine. Marilyn will be sharing recipes from her eclectic culinary journey and international experiences that have influenced her relationship with food! We will be sampling three of her appetizer recipes. Be sure to sign up at the front office so we know how many to make! We will also feature a themed raffle basket. Bring your $$$ and win something special! The Events Committee wants to let Claremonters know that they have decided not to sponsor a New Year's Eve Dinner Dance on December 31, 2019. They do hope to hold a dinner dance again in 2020, but felt the event needs a year's break since attendance was lower than anticipated on NYE 2018 - a low of 68 attendees. From Disney to Disaster: The Disney Corporation’s Involvement in the Creation of Celebrity Trainwrecks BY Kelsey N. Reese Spring 2021 WMNST 492W: Senior Capstone Seminar Dr. Jill Wood Reese 2 INTRODUCTION The popularized phrase “celebrity trainwreck” has taken off in the last ten years, and the phrase actively evokes specified images (Doyle, 2017). These images usually depict young women hounded by paparazzi cameras that are most likely drunk or high and half naked after a wild night of partying (Doyle, 2017). These girls then become the emblem of celebrity, bad girl femininity (Doyle, 2017; Kiefer, 2016). The trainwreck is always a woman and is usually subject to extra attention in the limelight (Doyle, 2017). Trainwrecks are in demand; almost everything they do becomes front page news, especially if their actions are seen as scandalous, defamatory, or insane. The exponential growth of the internet in the early 2000s created new avenues of interest in celebrity life, including that of social media, gossip blogs, online tabloids, and collections of paparazzi snapshots (Hamad & Taylor, 2015; Mercer, 2013). What resulted was 24/7 media access into the trainwreck’s life and their long line of outrageous, commiserable actions (Doyle, 2017). Kristy Fairclough coined the term trainwreck in 2008 as a way to describe young, wild female celebrities who exemplify the ‘good girl gone bad’ image (Fairclough, 2008; Goodin-Smith, 2014). While the coining of the term is rather recent, the trainwreck image itself is not; in their book titled Trainwreck, Jude Ellison Doyle postulates that the trainwreck classification dates back to feminism’s first wave with Mary Wollstonecraft (Anand, 2018; Doyle, 2017).

From Omaha to San Antonio and from Denver to Kearney, our state has left a memorable trail for us to reflect upon as the FBLA membership year begins to draw to a close. nebraskafbla.org Jency, our State Parliamentarian, never failed to make everyone on the @NebraskaFBLA team feel like a Star. She has been a true friend to each member of the Nebraska FBLA officer team, but still found a way to keep us all organized when we got off-track during a meeting. @nebraskafbla Our Reporter, Sadie, ensured that each officer was well-informed of upcoming deadlines and of course, how far we were from completing our terms. Her service as a State Officer and a National Council Member is admirable, to say the least . Connor, our Treasurer, could always be relied on for a quick morale boost. Whether it be his exuberant energy, expansive knowledge of NEBRASKA FBLA 2019-2020 random trivia, or bizarre obsession with dinner rolls, Connor certainly A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY set the pace for the rest of the officer team. Our State Secretary, Megan, is perhaps best known for her aptitude for sarcasm.
