World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is held on June 15th every year.

The UN aims to raise awareness of elder abuse and prevent it, and on this day. Elder abuse is global and comes in many forms including physical, emotional, sexual and nancial abuse and also neglect. 2. Union Cabinet cleared NDIAC Bill, 2019 on institutionalized arbitration

The Union Cabinet has cleared the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC) Bill, 2019, which provides for setting up of an independent and autonomous body for institutional arbitration.

It also aims to acquire and transfer the undertakings of International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution to New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC) with effect from March 2 this year. The Bill provides to replace and repeal the NDIAC Ordinance, 2019. The proposed New Delhi International Arbitration Centre is headed by a chairperson, who has been a judge of the Supreme Court or a judge of a high court or an eminent person, having special knowledge and experience in the conduct or administration of the arbitration. 3. India slips 5 places to 141 on Global Peace Index 2019

India has slipped by four points in an annual global index on peacefulness this year, nishing at 141 among 163 countries. Iceland remained at the top position, according to a report by an international think tank. The Global Peace Index (GPI) gauges ongoing domestic and international conict, safety and security in society, and the degree of militarisation in 163 countries and territories by taking into account 23 indicators. Iceland remains the most peaceful country in the world, a position it has held since 2008. 4. June month is celebrated as the LGBTQ Pride month

June month is celebrated as the Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning (LGBTQ) Pride month all over the world. The LGBTQ pride month is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of Stonewall riots at Stonewall Inn in New York, a gathering space for LGBTQ community during the 60s.

It provides role models, builds community, and represents a civil rights statement about the contributions of the LGBT community. The month is observed by the United States, United Kingdom, Canada. LGBT History Month originated in the United States. It was rst celebrated in 1994. The commemoration of the month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. History:

Sahitya Akademi has selected 22 writers for the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019 and 23 writers for Yuva Puraskar 2019.

The awardees have been selected on the basis of recommendations made by the Jury comprising of three members each in the concerned language, in accordance with the rules and procedure laid down for the purpose. The Award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque and a cheque of Rs.50,000/- will be presented to the awardees at a special function. 6. Two female scientists Ritu Kridhal and Vanitha to head Indias 2nd Moon mission Chandrayaan-2

For the rst time, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has appointed two women scientists – Ritu Karidhal (as mission director) and Muthayya Vanitha(as project director) – to head India’s second Moon mission Chandrayaan-2. ISRO Chairman K Sivan announced that close to 30 percent of the ISRO team working on Chandrayaan 2 are women.

Ritu Karidhal was referred to as the ‘Rocket Woman of India’. She became famous with the launch of the where she was the deputy operations director.

Muthayya Vanitha received the Best Woman Scientist award in 2006 by the Astronomical Society of India. About Chandrayaan-2:

7. IAAF to rebrand as World Athletics

World athletics’ governing body, the IAAF will be rebranded as World Athletics.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) was initially founded in 1912 as the International Amateur Athletic Federation. The body, currently presided over by Britain’s two-time Olympic 1500m gold medallist Sebastian Coe, took its present name in 2001. World Athletics should be operational from October. 8. PepsiCo executive Laxman Narasimhan has been appointed as the chief executive ocer of the British consumer goods giant Reckitt Benckiser.

He will succeed in Rakesh Kapoor. Narasimhan will join Reckitt as CEO-designate and be appointed to the board on July 16. He will resume his oce and become group CEO on September 1. Narasimhan’s initial priorities will be to focus on delivering outperformance especially in the health business unit, and to drive the Lysol maker’s plan to split the rm into two business units under the same company. 9.
