Just 10 minutes from Ellon & Methlick, and 30 minutes from Aberdeen & Peterhead, Smithfield provides an ideal base from which to explore the treasures of the North East of Scotland. Set in the peaceful, secluded countryside of the Ythan Valley, this quality B&B is the 200 year old home of the Thomas-Wright family, who offer a warm and friendly welcome. Guests are welcome to relax in the south-facing sitting room, listen to music, and enjoy books from the wide and eclectic collection. Smithfield's guest rooms comprise a spacious & elegantly furnished double room, with en-suite shower room, on the ground floor; and a tastefully furnished, single room, with separate, private bathroom on the first floor. Both rooms have their own tea & coffee making facilities, and they enjoy views over the garden and the rolling countryside beyond. Previous guests have complimented their hosts on the hospitable & friendly welcome, the tasty organic breakfasts tailored to individual tastes, and the tranquil location; all of which have led to very comfortable and relaxing visits . Where to Go and What to Do & See Located in the heart of Aberdeenshire, Smithfield of Ythanbank, is well positioned for exploring both Aberdeenshire's famous Castle Country and Coastal Trail, and is just a few miles from the popular National Trust properties of Haddo House and Fyvie Castle. The super, family run Glen Garioch Whisky Distillery is in nearby Old Meldrum, which has excellent guided tours and a Visitor Centre. Smithfield is also well placed for fishing, golf, walking & wildlife watching, both inland and coastal, and is also close to the National Cycle Route.
