TSA Pre ™ Expands to 60 Additional Airports More Passengers TSA Pre✓™ Expands to 60 Additional Airports More Passengers Able to Experience Expedited Screening WASHINGTON — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that it will expand its TSA expedited screening program to 60 new airports in addition to the existing 40, bringing the total number of airports with TSA Pre✓™ to 100. These airports are expected to have TSA Pre✓™ lanes at select checkpoints by the end of the year. The agency also will expand the number of TSA Pre✓™ lanes and availability at the existing 40 airports in the coming weeks. TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows pre-approved airline travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes. To date, more than 15 million passengers have experienced TSA Pre✓™ since it launched in October 2011. “As TSA continues to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, we are looking for more opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way possible,” said TSA Administrator John S. Pistole. “Expanding TSA Pre✓™ to more locations enables many more passengers across the country to experience expedited screening.” Passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include U.S. citizens of frequent traveler programs invited by participating airlines. Additionally, U.S. citizens who are members of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program and Canadian citizens who are members of CBP’s NEXUS program qualify to participate. Later this year TSA will launch an application program, allowing more U.S. citizens to enroll in TSA Pre✓™. Eligible passengers traveling on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America may receive expedited screening benefits. JetBlue and Southwest are expected to begin participating when operationally ready. If a passenger is eligible for expedited screening, a TSA Pre✓™ indicator will be embedded in the barcode of the boarding pass so that when scanned at the checkpoint, the passenger may be referred to a TSA Pre✓™ lane. Many participating airlines already print a TSA Pre✓™ indicator directly on the boarding pass so passengers will know in advance they have been cleared for expedited screening. TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport. No individual will be guaranteed expedited screening. Travelers can check TSA.gov/TSA-Precheck for information on locations and hours of active TSA Pre✓™ lanes.     Idaho Air Passenger Demand Study Introduction Introduction to the Report Commercial airline service is very important to Idaho’s economy. Not only do businesses located in the State rely on the commercial airline industry to support day-to-day activities, but Idaho’s tourist industry is heavily reliant on commercial airline service. There is no national standard for what constitutes good or even acceptable airline service; such standards vary considerably by community. However, convenient access to the national air transportation system is a top priority for many businesses and tourists across the U.S. It is important that Idaho’s major population, business, and tourism centers have commercial airline service to meet their needs. All areas in Idaho have some inherent need or demand for commercial airline service. The volume of this demand is determined by factors such as population, employment, income, and tourism. Where each community’s demand for commercial airline service is actually served is a more complex equation. In the deregulated airline environment, it is not uncommon to find travelers who leave the market area of their local commercial service airport to drive two to three hours to a more distant, larger competing airport. The airport that travelers choose for their commercial airline trips is influenced by a myriad of factors. With the help of the Internet, which is rapidly becoming the number one method for airline ticket purchases, travelers can compare fares, airlines, and schedules among several competing airports. With airline deregulation, some travelers from smaller commercial airport markets around the U.S. have abandoned air travel from their local airport in favor of beginning their trips from larger, more distant airports.

John Wayne Operations January Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased the first month of the New Year by 2.9% as compared to January 2013. January ADDs were 108.06 vs. 114.16 for 2013 which indicates that less aircraft are carrying more passengers. Of the ADDs, the international flights accounted for 4.60 ADDs or 4.25% of the total ADDs vs. 5.29 or 4.63% in 2013. During January, of the total of all of the passengers, 3.88% can be attributed to international passengers. Departures One Day at JWA A number of people have asked about the distribution of departures, during the day for one day of operation at JWA. What follows in the chart below is one day of operations at JWA, February 10, 2014, which was chosen arbitrarily. The figures were compiled from the departure data at the airport and are broken down by hour, i.e., 7-8 AM is reflected by 7AM etc. The total number of Departures was 119 1 for the day. 1 The figure of 119 was established by posted departures at the airport and may not be totally reflective of cancellations or duplicative flight numbers which were attempted to be taken into account. In addition, Air Charter companies on the field offer direct flights to Boise and other destinations on demand. The airport is a landlord for the airlines and has very little say in where airlines fly, the ticket prices they charge or the level of customer service they may or may not provide. We do stay in close contact with all the airlines, attend their conferences and meet with their headquarter offices to offer suggestions and insight into our market and to market our airport and community in effort to attract new routes. We also partner with a very competent and successful air service development consultant to assist us in this effort. However, in the end Airlines make their decisions based on profitability and they are ultimately in control. Air service is directly tied to the economy and how many people are flying.
