Welcome Welcome message from the LEN President Dear Friends, LEN is immensely proud to extend the circles of the host cities for its major events. With the European Diving Championships are to be held in Kyiv, a great new chapter is opening both in the history of Ukrainian diving and LEN. We know, taking on this duty was a long-term plan or, may I say, dream of our Ukrainian friends and now we are all witnessing this dream coming true. It’s is also a fine proof for their love towards diving and ultimately to show us that beyond all hardship sport stands out as a tool to unite the people and put smile on everyone’s faces. Diving in this great country enjoys special appreciation, thanks to the fantastic results obtained in recent events. The greats like Ilya Kvasha, Yulia Prokopchuk – winners in London 2016 –, Oleksandr Horshkovozov, Hanna Krasnoshlyk and the others are all respected members of the European diving family. They are always ready to show something special, to deliver their very best in any competition. Kyiv is a city of beauty, the facilities are at world-class level, the hotels cater all demands, we have already witnessed the dedication of the local organisers so all members of the LEN Family can be sure that the European Championships will be a real hit in June. In the meantime, LEN also plays its part in contributing to the success of the event as we maintain providing travel and accommodation assistance for our national federations. This further strengthens the base of European Aquatics which is firm enough to ensure a constant improvement for the federations, athletes, coaches and officials. May I wish good luck for all, especially for the organisers and the athletes while preparing for this fantastic showcase – see you all in June in Kyiv! We are greatly thankful to Ligue Européenne de Natation for its choice of Ukraine and its capital KYIV as a host-city of European Diving Championships, such a high-leveled international meeting. Being a head of Organizing Committee of the Meeting, I may assure you that our government will do its best to hold the Championships at the highest possible level. I also hope the Meeting will become the true showcase in the sports life of Ukraine. A special squad of organizers, donators and volunteers has been working to make the Meeting remembered by all the fan of diving long after the event and make the number of them even bigger. For the first time in the country’s history Ukraine hosts a spectacular sport event – the European Diving Championship 2017. Our state has great traditions in this sport. There are a lot of winners of international competitions that are well- known far beyond Ukraine, such as Hanna Sorokina, Illya Kvasha, Olena Zhupina, Oleksiy Pryhorov, Yulia Prokopchuk, Oleksandr Horshkovozov and others. Thanks to the achievements of Ukrainian divers, the effective work of coaches, experts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Diving Federation we were given a high honor to hold the continental championship. The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine as the main partner of the competition and the Organizing Committee will make every effort to organize the tournament at the highest level. I’m sure that the arena of the Sports Center "Liko", where the competitions will take place, will pleasantly surprise all of you with European level of comfort and technical equipment.
