Three of the four (except Nishikori) are over-30. Federer is trying to reach his 10th Halle final (7-2) while Nishikori is back in the semi-finals for the second straight year. Karlovic and Seppi are appearing in their first semi-final. In the opening match on Stadion, Federer brings a 12-1 head-to-head advantage (2-0 on grass) against Karlovic, who has not been broken in 48 service games this week. Federer is making his 11th SF appearance (9-1) in Halle and the only time he lost in this round came in 2002 (l. to Kiefer). In the next match on, Nishikori has won two of the previous three meetings against Seppi, who won the previous grass contest in five sets at Wimbledon two years ago.
