At first titled the Quarterly Bulletin, the name was changed ioAnnals of Wyoming in July, 1925. Volume Number I of this index was published in 1943 and covered the years of 1923 through 1942. This first volume also included an index to earlier publications of the Historical Department: Wyoming Historical Collections of 1897, Volume I, by Robert Morris, Miscellanies of 1919, Wyoming Historical Collections of1920, HistoricalCollections of1922. Volume Number II of the Index was published in 1961 and covered the years of 1943 through 1959. Volume III has been compiled by many persons since the publication of Volume II.
