FATHER AND AWFUL RECORDS ANNOUNCE CREATIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH RCA RECORDS

[June 21, 2018 – New York, NY] Father and Awful Records have announced today their creative partnership with RCA Records. The newly formed partnership, empowers Awful to sign artists to Awful Records/RCA Records, or develop artists via the The Orchard distribution system.
The first release will be Father’s forthcoming solo effort, set for release this fall, amongst a slew of other artist releases that will be announced soon.
On signing with RCA Records, Father said: “Awful has done a lot for indie music. We showed many just how far you can get on your own. Now we finally have the opportunity to take things further and grander with RCA Records. Not only that, it was given to us on our own terms. When you put as much thought into the music as we do, you want it to be heard.”
About Father: If anyone could be called leader of the modern mess of a rap crew—Awful Records—it would be Father. He was an art school dropout who founded “Awful Media Group” as a video and branding service in Atlanta, later turning to music as an experiment.
He made an unlikely first breakthrough with stripped down anthems like “Nokia” and “Look At Wrist” in 2014. With the help of ILoveMakokonnen, Key!, and a slew of Awful Records’ artists, Father’s first project, Young Hot Ebony (2014), would mark the birth of what is known today as ‘Soundcloudrap’. Since then, he has carved himself out an independent sweet spot, having grown and maintained a core fan base with two more full-length projects: Who’s Gonna Get F*cked First? (2015) and I’m A Piece of Sh*t (2016).
