In recent years the game has begun to grow again, a recent article on Cricinfo highlighted the progress made by the team. Serbia are not officially endorsed by the International Cricket Council and are therefore not entitled to participate in ICC Official events. However, Serbian Cricket Federation is recognized by the ICC-Europe as a sole governing body of cricket in Serbia, which should see them granted Affiliate Status in the near future. In October 2009, Serbian national team made its first away appearance, losing one and winning one match against Slovenian team Mezica CC. In August 2011, Serbia reached semi finals in the EuroT20 tournament in Budapest.[1] Currently there are 4 active teams: McKenzie (Ĉaĉak), Mirijevo (Belgrade), Vraĉar (Belgrade) and Stari Grad (Belgrade). 40- and 20- over championships are played

BlackrockNewsletterSummer2015 28/05/2015 10:05 Page 1 Blackrock College Newsletter Special points of interest: Summer 2015 ● Boarding School Dear Parents U.S. Ambassador Kevin O’Malley visited Blackrock in early May to launch our environmental ● Pastoral Care Programme magazine Greenwatch. He was thanked by Hugh O’Carroll- Macri for “taking time out of his busy schedule to join us”. His reply was – “You are my schedule”. ● Guidance and Counselling As we review another academic year, I ask of our boys What was your schedule? – Who did you prioritise? - What did you find time to do? ● Science Department A school year is incredibly busy, runs at a frenetic pace, which may cause us to forget the important as we address what appears urgent – that essay for tomorrow, or that test. This can take over, often because of a lack of planning, organisation – the essay may have been given a week before! ● Green Schools There are many different experiences at Blackrock, all of which add value. The meaning that underpins our schedule is our vision of a Christian community which reaches out to those in need and that includes everybody. Inside this issue: The needy are everywhere. Some may be homeless or refugees in our city, others we may encounter in Machakos, Kolkata or Lourdes; some again, may be in our classrooms. Second Year 2 Pope St. John XXIII urged us “not to walk through time without leaving worthy evidence of your passage”. The message is to make your mark. The key to this is an active life lived beyond the self, through supportive relationships in the context of an affirming faith and cultural tradition.
