Novi Sad is the second largest town in Serbia. The town is rather different from Belgrade in style, tough just 75 km away (architecturally, historically, by way of life, tradition...). Dunavska street is one of the oldest and most beautiful streets in Novi Sad. The Novosadska Synagogue with Jewish school and Jewish community represents a cultural and historic complex of great importance. It is constructed by a famous Budapest architect Lipot Baumhorn. Its construction began in 1905 and was completed in 1909. In 1991 Synagogue was added to Spatial Cultural-Historical Units of Great Importance list, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia. The Name of Mary Church is the largest church in Novi Sad and is located in the city centre on the Trg Slobode (Liberty Square). In 1891, the city council made a decision to demolish the old church and to build a new one on the same location. Hungarian architect György Molnár designed the church in 1892 for free and the main construction was finished in November 1893. Today this church is one of the most popular meetup spots in town. Drive from Novi Sad to Petrovaradin Fortress. Petrovaradin fortress is a fortress located on the right bank of the Danube river. The cornerstone of the present-day southern part of the fortress was laid on 18th October 1692 by Charles Eugène de Croÿ. Petrovaradin Fortress has many underground tunnels as well as 16 km of uncollapsed underground countermine system. The tower’s clock is known as "Reversed clock" because the minute and hour hand on the clock tower are reversed, with the small hand showing minutes, and the big hand showing hours. This fortress is also home to one of the famous music festivals – EXIT. Drive from Petrovaradin to the town of Sremski Karlovci, right on the slopes of Fruška Gora. This is charming city with remains of the baroque style, intriguing Chapel of Peace, and surrounded by wine culture. The area has a few fine wine cellars and we will taste wine from this ground and climate, including the typical wine Bermet – which was also on the Titanic wine list. Possible visit to some of the famous wineries, on request. Break for lunch. Drive from Sremski Karlovci to Fruška Gora. Only a one-hour drive away from Belgrade, on the gentle slopes of Mountain of Fruška Gora. There are 17 Orthodox monasteries witnessing the history of Serbian people during the Turkish occupation of Serbia, architecturally and artistically valuable and intriguing. We will get acquintated with monasteries Krušedol, Hopovo, and Grgeteg. Return to Belgrade. .
