About the OSAA The OSAA is comprised of 290 member high schools representing more than

200 Oregon communities. A private non‐profit, board‐governed association, Tim France Jeff Clark Steve Boynton the OSAA is sanctioned by the Oregon State Board of Education and is a Principal Principal Superintendent member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). It’s History The OSAA began in 1918 when administrators from 36 schools recognized a need for an organization to coordinate and regulate high school interscholastic competition. Thus the Oregon State High School Athletic Association was formed. The name was changed in 1947 to reflect the inclusion of activities outside of traditional athletics.

Mission Statement The mission of the OSAA is to serve member schools by providing leadership and state coordination for the conduct of interscholastic activities, which will

enrich the educational experiences of high school students. The OSAA will Mark Witty Tony Guevara Matt Posey work to promote interschool activities that provide equitable participation Superintendent President School Board opportunities, positive recognition and learning experiences to students, Baker SD Blanchet Catholic Dallas SD 6A/5A/4A At-Large 3A/2A/1A At-Large OSBA while enhancing the achievement of educational goals.

What the OSAA Does Much like the NCAA at the collegiate level, the OSAA regulates the eligibility and competition of all high school students in the state. This includes everything from determining which league a school will compete in to sponsoring and administering state championships.

Funding As a private, non‐profit organization, the OSAA does not receive any state funding. Revenue is generated from three sources: school membership fees,

state championship gate receipts and corporate sponsors. www.osaa.org/archives In high school sports, you can be a part of something bigger than yourself. You can be part of a team.

Wearing the uniform of your high school comes with a big responsibility. Your community cheers for you. Your teammates count on you. And you have the opportunity to make history by competing for a state championship. Do you have what it takes?

TEAMWORK | RESPONSIBILITY | ACCOMPLISHMENT

Whether students are shooting for the hoop, singing in choir, marching in time or aiming for the end zone, they are practicing skills that will serve them well in school, on the job and in life.

Les Schwab is proud of the players and performers of the OSAA. We believe in supporting students as they learn about commitment, hard work and serving the community — values the company believes in. We’re glad to be a title sponsor of the OSAA, helping students get the chance to participate in the state playoffs and championships.

THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE AND FOR SUPPORTING OUR GREAT YOUNG PEOPLE.
