Site Description This is a green field site measuring 12.01 hectares which is located to the south and east of the built-up area of Church Gresley. The site lies outside, but abutting, the boundary of the urban area, as shown on Sheet 1 of the Proposals Map for the South Derbyshire Local Plan 1998. There are existing residential properties to the northeast and northwest and Gresley Wood to the south and southwest. There is National Forest land to the east with connecting footpaths to Albert Village and beyond. St George’s Primary School is located to the north of the site. A small, triangular-shaped copse is located in the northern-most corner of the site, adjacent to St George’s School. Swadlincote Public Footpath No.1 abuts and then crosses through the northern and eastern boundaries of the site and Swadlincote Footpath No.2 crosses through the entire central section in an east/west direction. Swadlincote Footpath No.3 abuts the southwest corner of the site and Swadlincote Footpath No.4 abuts the southern boundary.
