Many of these orientation events and sessions are mandatory for all first-year students entering into a college community. SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE The School of Architecture has moved the Orientation Event for first-year Architecture students to the new date of Wednesday, April 7th from 7:30 PM - 8:30m PM. COLLEGE OF ARTS AND LETTERS The College of Arts and Letters invites all first-year students entering the college to learn more about the Arts and Letters Advising Deans! Our team of assistant deans provides a range of services, including orientation, student advising, course scheduling, coordination of the transfer and readmission process, approval for study abroad, advising regarding course completion while abroad, and status certification of undergraduate degrees. Find Your Advising Dean: A–E: Dean Collin Meissner | F–G: Dean Nicholas Russo | H-K: Dean Mary O'Callaghan | L–Q: Dean Darlene Hampton | R–Z: Dean Joseph Stanfiel All students are assigned an assistant dean based on their last names. All Pre-health and Neuroscience and Behavior majors in the College work with Dean Maureen Dawson. MENDOZA COLLEGE OF BUSINESS The Mendoza College of Business is pleased to highlight how to request tutors for a business class! Peer group tutoring in select core Business courses is available at no charge to students who qualify. To be eligible, the student must have a grade deficiency of a B- or below in the course after the first test (15% of the grade). The grade will be verified by their professor. Also, students are required to attend class regularly and use faculty and TA office hours. Peer group tutors are available for ACCT 20100, ACCT 20200, ITAO 20200, FIN 20150, FIN 30210, and FIN 30220. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING The College of Engineering is excited to highlight the Alumni & Friends Insight Series "Mars Perseverance Mission with ND alumn Matt Robinson - Designer of the Robotic Arm!" KEOUGH SCHOOL OF GLOBAL AFFAIRS The Keough School of Global Affairs invites you to join Dr. Teng Biao in "The Rise and Fall of the Human Rights Movement in China." Dr. Teng Biao is a human-rights lawyer, currently as the Grove Human Rights Scholar at Hunter College, the City University of New York. Previously, he was a lecturer at the China University of Politics and Law (Beijing), and a visiting scholar at Yale, Harvard, and New York University. Teng’s research focuses on criminal justice, human rights, social movements, and political transition in China. Join us this Thursday, March 25 from 12:45 PM - 2:00 PM. Learn more here! COLLEGE OF SCIENCE The College of Science invites you to the Women in STEM Conversation Space. Are you a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) major? Do you identify as female? If so, this workshop is for you. Women in STEM tend to feel more pressure to succeed and provide evidence of their abilities/knowledge because they are women in male- dominated fields. This space is an opportunity for women in STEM to talk about challenges that their male counterparts do not face. This semester, we will have separate conversation spaces for undergraduate and graduate students. Join Wednesday, April 7 from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Latino Studies is relevant to practically every academic discipline and useful for careers in architecture, business, church leadership, community organizing, the arts, engineering, law, medicine, teaching, and much more. New Minor in Health, Humanities, and Society! Check out the new Minor in Health, Humanities, and Society, which will start in Fall 2021. This minor will be of interest to any student who is keen to understand matters of health, whether they intend to pursue a career in the health professions or not. In this minor, health and medicine are lenses through which to analyze and understand a variety of contemporary issues, including questions about disability, equity, race and justice, gender and health, how doctors are trained, etc. Learn more here! English as a First or Second Major! Come join us in English! Students interested in English as a first or second major are invited to attend one of our upcoming information sessions. Four of the sessions are specially geared to coordinate with other frequently paired fields of study: science, business or economics, psychology, and political science, while one is meant as a general English major information session. In partnership with the Finance Department and the Mendoza College of Business, the Institute's new Minor in Real Estate invites students to learn the fundamental aspects of real estate, gain exposure to a wide range of career paths, and network with industry professionals. Q&A with Students, Faculty, and Alums of the Undergraduate Program in Peace Studies March 25, 2021 | 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Zoom The Undergraduate Program in Peace Studies equips students with the tools needed to face these challenges head on and develop strategies for building sustainable peace and justice in diverse contexts. All incoming and current Notre Dame undergraduate students are invited to join faculty, staff, and alumni of the Undergraduate Program in Peace Studies for a live, online discussion about the field of peace studies. You will learn what peace studies is, how peace studies can enhance your academic experience at Notre Dame, and what to expect from the Introduction to Peace Studies course. You can also ask questions about pursuing a supplementary major or minor in peace studies, as well as other opportunities available to students in the Undergraduate Program in Peace Studies, including participation in the annual Notre Dame Student Peace Conference or Madrasa Discourses immersion. Join the conversation at any point throughout the hour.
