    PRESS RELEASE Seven reigning World champions to feature at Singapore Badminton Open 2019 Kento Momota as well as Tai Tzu Ying and Pusarla V. Sindhu also confirmed their entries [Singapore, 20 February 2019] – Current World champion and 2015 Singapore Badminton Open winner, Momota, confirmed his participation for Singapore Open 2019 from 9-14 April. He will be joined at the Singapore Indoor Stadium by compatriots and current Women’s Doubles World champions Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara. The Men’s Singles bracket is shaping up after Momota added his name into the mix together with Olympic Champions, Chen Long and Lin Dan. Currently World Ranked #1, he is one of the star names from the Japanese contingent heading to Singapore, comprising 29 shuttlers in total. Momota is also one of seven out of eight current World champions joining the Singapore Open this April. The only World champion that won’t be participating is Carolina Marin after she ruptured her right anterior cruciate knee ligament at the Indonesia Masters earlier this year. Singapore Open defending champions will also return this April in a bid to retain their titles. World Ranked #3, Chou Tien Chen is among those coming to Singapore for his title defence. Chou will be part of the 15-player Chinese Taipei team. Fans can also look forward to a vibrant Women’s Singles category as 2018 Asian Games Gold medallist and 2017 Singapore Open Champion, Tai, will also compete this April.
