The High School PE Department Ethos and Vision The Dalziel High School Physical Education department are passionate about providing an enjoyable and inspiring experience for all young people. We provide a broad curriculum and extra curricular programme that motivates and inspires all students to engage in a healthy active lifestyle within school and beyond.

The PE Department is extremely committed to providing enjoyable and high quality lessons, to ensure all pupils fulfil their potential but most importantly, enjoy PE.

All PE staff motivate pupils and provide experiences, which enhance pupil’s physical fitness and personal qualities, such as; resilience, confidence self-belief, creativity and problem solving.

The Physical Education Department are passionate about developing a lifelong positive attitude towards physical activity, exercise and sport, for every student in the school.

PE KIT Students should bring their Dalziel High School PE Kit to all lessons. Pupils who are unable to participate in PE due to illness or injury, should still get changed and take part as a coach, official or perform observation and analysis tasks.

Pupils are NOT expected to buy all three garments. Parent/carers can select any of the three options. The school will help support parent/carers to purchase PE kit if required. Please contact Dalziel High School S1 Year Head (Mrs DiMambro) is you require any further information. Pupils can wear their own black shorts, tracksuit trousers or leggings. When pupils are at for PE, they are allowed to also wear a jumper and/or waterproof top.

S1 Physical Education In S1 and S2 pupils will experience some the best facilities in at Dalziel Park. Dalziel Park has two 3G pitches, three grass football pitches, three grass rugby pitches, a running track and an indoor training area.

In S1 and S2, pupils will have one double period of PE per week, where they will participate in the following activities:

- Netball - Rugby - Hockey - Football - Tennis - Handball - Orienteering - Cross Country - Athletics - Social Dance

In S3, pupils will finish their Broad General Education, where they will also cover gymnastics, dance, basketball, badminton, volleyball, fitness and table tennis.

Physical Education Extra-Curricular Clubs, Teams and Inter-House Events New S1 pupils will particularly enjoy the wide range of extra-curricular clubs, teams and Inter House Competitions that take place at Dalziel High School.

The PE department and many other members of staff in the school are passionate about ensuring a wide range of extra-curricular activities are available for all pupils. We are extremely proud of the continued success and strong sporting tradition at Dalziel High School. There are opportunities for recreational clubs and for pupils wanting to participate in high level competitive sport. Many pupils at the school compete at club, district and international level.

One of the many highlights at Dalziel High school are the sporting Inter-House competitions. The annual Easter Games morning and Summer Sports Day involve the entire school representing their house by supporting or participating in events.
