FRESNO STATE Oct. 21 2006 • 8 p.m. CDT • ESPN2 Baton Rouge, La. • Tiger Stadium (92,400) GAME 8 • 2006 LSU FOOTBALL GAME NOTES THE LES MILES ERA BEGINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS LSU Steps Out of Conference to Host Fresno State #14 LSU (5-2, 2-2 SEC) LSU steps outside of the Southeastern Conference tonight as the 14th-ranked Tigers host Fresno State in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff SEPTEMBER for the contest is slated for 8:12 p.m. on ESPN2. The game will serv eas LSU’s final non-conference regular season contest. The game will be the first ever meeting between LSU and Fresno State. LSU, winners of 10 straight games in Tiger Stadium, brings a 2 Louisiana-Lafayette (TigerVision) W, 45-3 5-2 overall mark into the game. The Tigers are coming off a 49-0 win over Kentucky last Saturday in Tiger Stadium. Fresno State 9 Arizona (ESPN2) W, 45-3 is 1-5 overall following a 69-38 loss to Hawaii last week. DECEMBER 2 SEC Championship (CBS) 5 p.m. Offense and Defense Shine in 49-0 Win Over Kentucky A balanced offense and a stingy defense proved just too much for Kentucky as the Tigers rolled to a 49-0 win over Kentucky in Fresno State (1-5, 0-3 WAC) Tiger Stadium. Offensively, the Tigers scored touchdowns on their first four possessions in building a 28-0 halftime lead. JaMarcus Russell connected on first half TD passes of 7 and 48 yards to Dwayne Bowe and Jacob Hester added scoring runs of 7 and 4 SEPTEMBER yards as the Tigers led 28-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Tigers tacked on 14 points third quarter points, one coming on a 1 * Nevada (ESPN) W, 28-19 12-yard run by Early Doucet and the other coming on an 8-yard TD pass from Matt Flynn to Bowe. Flynn finished off the scoring for the Tigers early in the fourth quarter with a 2-yard TD pass to Shawn Jordan.
