The agent is in the Orbivirus genus of the Reoviridae family and has 24 known serotypes. The disease is most common during the summer months and is more severe during humid and rainy times. The aim of this study is to determine the presence of bluetongue infection serologically in cattle in Siirt province, Turkey, and to get information about its prevalence in the region. The material of the study consisted of a total of 279 cattle reared in different localities of Siirt. For laboratory analysis, 5 ml blood samples were taken from jugular vein of cattle and put into non-anticoagulant tubes. The samples were centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes and serum was transferred into Eppendorf tubes and stored at -20 ºC until enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analysis was performed. Serum samples were analyzed by an ELISA device (Multiskan GO, Thermo Scientific) using the commercial test kit (Bluetongue Virus VP7 Ab Test Kit, IDEXX). The results were evaluated as positive and negative. Of the 279 specimens analyzed, 150 (53.76%) were found to be seropositive and 129 (46.24%) were seronegative. -

Is there any country information about whether the Turkish police disrupted Newroz celebrations on 21 March 2005 in Zeytinburnu, Kalicesme in Istanbul, and detained about 20 people at the police station? Zeytinburnu is a suburb in Istanbul. Kalicesme is the name of a square and a train station in the vicinity of the suburb of Zeytinburnu.1 A translation of the Savas Karsitlari website contains a mention that eight people were arrested at Kalicesme Square during Newroz celebrations on 21 March 2005.2 Newroz Day incidents were reported also in other areas. In Mersin, southern Turkey, it was reported that police arrested six juveniles, and a prosecutor charged them with attempting to burn the national flag.3 4 The US Department of State noted several incidents of police intervening in Newroz day celebrations: HRF reported clashes between police and celebrants in Siirt Province, during which police opened fire, injuring a child. Police in Edirne raided a house and detained a number of local DEHAP officials and students in connection with Nevruz celebrations. During a separate incident in Siirt, police beat juveniles who stoned the police station after police prevented Nevruz celebrations, according to HRF.5 Despite these incidents, a European Union (EU) report stated that March 2005‟s Newroz celebrations were “authorised and peaceful in most provinces”.6 In 2007, however, it was reported that police conducted raids on a Newroz Day rally in Kazlicesme, Istanbul. Association. All rights reserved. Abstract: The quality of grape cultivars not only depends on the grape cultivar but also is influenced by the molecular concepts and agro-climatic factors. For this purpose, four different grape cultivars were collected from five different locations in Siirt province (Turkey). Totally twenty different grape cultivars were investigated. In the present study, the antioxidant activity (total phenolic, flavonoid, proanthocyanidin content, DPPH and FRAP activity) in seeds were indicated and phylogenetic analysis (cpDNA;trnL-F region) of twenty native grape cultivars were investigated to construct their phylogenetic tree. According to reported data on antioxidant activity and content of phytochemicals, all cultivars exhibited different values from each other, but Rutik and Gadüv cultivars were found as significantly higher in comparison to others. According to bioinformatics analysis, twenty grape cultivars were distributed into six different major groups. Rutik and Sevkeye cultivars exhibit significant distinction from other grape cultivars. -

Vojnits Abstract Eupithecia silenicolata zengoeensis Fazekas, 1979 = the nominotypical species. Eupithecia inveterata nom. nov. for £ trita Vojnits, 1977 (secondary homonym, nec E. trita Turati, 1926). The separation as a subspecies of the Central European po pulations of Eupithecia sinuosaria Ev., an actively spreading species, is unrealistic. The paleozoographic analysis of most Eupithecia species rest on insufficient fun- dations. 1. Eupithecia silenicolata zengoeensis Fazekas, 1979 syn. nov. Linnaeana Bel- gica, 11: 406-411, figs. 1-4. Eupithecia silenicolata silenicolata Mabille, 1866 Ann. S. Fr., p. 562. Subspecific name. The Author named the new taxon after highest point in the Mec- sek Mountains, the 682 meters high Mount Zengo, mentioning that this place is the typical location of the subspecies. Following this he stated that the subspecies lives at altitudes between 200-350 m. These areas are entirely different from those of Mount Zengo and its environs, if a taxonomical name is given to a taxon, it should not be misleading under any circumstances. Diagnosis. Of the nine specimens which served as the basis for the description, one is in more or less good condition, one is slightly and the other seven are heavily worn. -

Ges. 102 65-93 München, 15.10.2012 ISSN 0340-4943 On the winter and spring aspect of the Macrolepidoptera fauna of Jordan with remarks on the biology of some species (Lepidoptera: Tineoidea, Cossoidea, Bombycoidea, Papilionoidea, Geometroidea, Noctuoidea) Dirk STADIE and Lutz LEHMANN († 1) Abstract The results of two lepidopterological expeditions to Jordan from December 20 to December 30, 2008 (provinces of Irbid, Karak, Tafila und Ma’an) and March 19 to March 25, 2009 (provinces: Zarqa, Tafila, Irbid and Balqa) are presented. A total of 166 species of Macrolepidoptera could be recorded, among them 21 species new for Jordan. Desertobia heloxylonia lawrencei subsp. n. is described. The female genitalia of Odontopera jordanaria (STAUDINGER, 1898) comb. n., are figured for the first time. The larvae of Odontopera jordanaria STAUDINGER, 1898, Minucia wiskotti (PÜNGELER, 1902), Allophyes benedictina (STAUDINGER, 1892), Agrochola pauli (STAUDINGER, 1892), Agrochola scabra (STAUDINGER, 1892), Agrochola staudingeri RONKAY, 1984, Conistra acutula (STAUDINGER, 1892), Polymixis apora (STAUDINGER, 1898) and Polymixis juditha (STAUDINGER, 1898) are described and figured. Introduction Our knowledge of the winter aspect of the macrolepidoptera fauna of the southwestern Palaearctic region is still lower compared to other seasons. It has been shown during expeditions that in countries with subtropical- mediterranean climate an interesting macrolepidoptera fauna with numerous poorly known or even new species could be ascertained, in the eremic as well as in the steppe and mediterranean zone. (Lamiaceae) have been recently reported as a new species from southeaster Turkey. It is currently grown in remote areas, where locally adapted and sparsely populated. The study will be of paramount importance for understanding of germination behavior in Salvia siirtica, possibly due to encouraging its propagation, but not being endangered. For this reason, conducted a study, consisting of a set of germination tests, under the tissue culture laboratory. In this study, Salvia siirtica seeds were treated with gibberellic acid (24 h and 48 h in GA3 of 250 mg l-1), citric acid (5 and 10 min in its solution of 4 %) and stratification (14 and 28 day in fine sand main- taining in refrigerator of + 4 °C). Experiment was set up in completely randomized factorial design with three replications. Comparing with control, sole gibberellic acid treatment or combined with other treatments had no effect on Salvia siirtica germination and rooting behavior. -

Notes on the Scottish Macro-moth List, 2015 This list aims to include every species of macro-moth reliably recorded in Scotland, with an assessment of its Scottish status, as guidance for observers contributing to the National Moth Recording Scheme (NMRS). It updates and amends the previous lists of 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2014. The requirement for inclusion on this checklist is a minimum of one record that is beyond reasonable doubt. Plausible but unproven species are relegated to an appendix, awaiting confirmation or further records. Unlikely species and known errors are omitted altogether, even if published records exist. Note that inclusion in the Scottish Invertebrate Records Index (SIRI) does not imply credibility. At one time or another, virtually every macro-moth on the British list has been reported from Scotland. Many of these claims are almost certainly misidentifications or other errors, including name confusion. However, because the County Moth Recorder (CMR) has the final say, dubious Scottish records for some unlikely species appear in the NMRS dataset. A modern complication involves the unwitting transportation of moths inside the traps of visiting lepidopterists. Then on the first night of their stay they record a species never seen before or afterwards by the local observers. Various such instances are known or suspected, including three for my own vice-county of Banffshire. Surprising species found in visitors’ traps the first time they are used here should always be regarded with caution. Clerical slips – the wrong scientific name scribbled in a notebook – have long caused confusion. An even greater modern problem involves errors when computerising the data. -

Ten of them are new to the fauna of Serbia (Ennomos quercaria, Anticollix sparsata, Colostygia fitzi, Eupithecia absinthiata, E. alliaria, E. assimilate, E. millefoliata, E. semigraphata, Perizoma juracolaria and Trichopteryx polycommata); five are here recorded in Serbia for the second time (Dyscia raunaria, Elophos dilucidaria, Eupithecia ochridata, Perizoma bifaciata and Rhodostrophia discopunctata); and two are recorded for the third time (Nebula nebulata and Perizoma hydrata). Information regarding where and when they were all found is given herein. KEY WORDS: geometrid moths, measuring worms, new record, taxonomy Introduction With more than 23000 species, Geometridae is one of the largest families of the order Lepidoptera (Choi et al., 2017). About 900 species have been found to date in Europe (Hausmann, 2001). Some of them are significant pests in agriculture and forestry (Carter, 1984; Barbour, 1988; Glavendekić, 2002; Pernek et al., 2013). Around 380 species have so far been recorded in Serbia (Dodok, 2006; Djurić & Hric, 2013; Beshkov, 2015a, 2015b, 2015c, 2017a, 2017b; Beshkov & Nahirnić, 2017; Nahirnić & Beshkov, 2016). -
