Styx Live at the Red Robinson Show Theatre
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OCTOBER 18, 2011 BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENTS STYX LIVE AT THE RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 Coquitlam, BC – Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement in the early 70’s, Styx would eventually transform into the virtual arena rock prototype by the late 70’s and into the 80’s due to a fondness for big rockers and soaring power ballads. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1972 followed by Styx II, The Serpent Is Rising and Man of Miracles. And while the albums helped them to build a substantial following locally, Styx failed to break through to the mainstream until a track from their second album, "Lady" started to get substantial airplay in 1974. After the song was issued as a single nationwide, it quickly shot to #6 on the singles chart as Styx II was certified gold. Guitarist Tommy Shaw then joined in 1975 and proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle for the band as most of their subsequent releases throughout the late 70’s earned at least platinum certification and produced such hit singles as "Come Sail Away", "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man" and "Fooling Yourself”. Styx then became one of North America’s top rock acts due to such big hit singles as "Too Much Time on My Hands". It also marked the first time in history that a band released four consecutive triple-platinum albums. A career-encompassing live album, Caught in the Act was issued in 1984 before Styx went on hiatus with the majority of its members pursuing solo projects throughout the remainder of the decade. -

Principals Involved in Lucid Plan Aren?T Done with Aurora
This page was exported from - The Auroran Export date: Thu Sep 30 6:36:34 2021 / +0000 GMT Principals involved in Lucid plan aren?t done with Aurora By Brock Weir With Aurora Live! dead in the water, enough time has passed for heads to cool and assess the situation. But George Roche, founder of Lucid Productions, the group that brought forward the Aurora Live! festival isn't completely done with Aurora. 2014, he said, is definitely a possibility. ?I would love to [bid on a festival] if we can get the ?Wild, Wild West' politics and the cynicism projected by [Councillor Chris Ballard] which I believe rises out of the treatment unto the Aurora Jazz Fest organizers,? said Mr. Roche, referring to the war of words between himself and the Councillor while the festival was still on the table. ?We always had a great feeling of working with Aurora and nothing has changed. When things go a little bit sideways obviously politicians start to protect themselves and their own credibility within the Town, but in this case the credibility wasn't protected.? Credibility also took a hit, he claims when Councillor Abel began to get ?demanding? on which bands should take to the stage and how much they should be paid, as well as what he describes as a ?spectacle? being made out of their references. ?2013 is out of the question [for a festival],? he said. ?We're very sorry it didn't go the way we had proposed. It wasn't anything to do with our actions, certainly being the lead writer and the pitchmen for the plan, I certainly wouldn't have done anything to hijack my own proposal. -
BIO POESY Is Quickly Becoming One of the Most Exciting New Canadian
POSEY BIO POESY is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new Canadian voices. Influenced by innovative enigmatic artists like Kate Bush and Freddie Mercury, as well as 90s alternative rock queens PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, and Alanis Morissette, the Toronto-based artist has formed a gritty and unmistakable sound that demands to be heard. Pairing inspiration from her favourite novels with vulnerable confessions from her own life, POESY’s dark and powerful alt-rock rhythms makes it possible to dance and cry and wonder and hope all at once. During her 2018 participation in CTV’s The Launch, POESY collaborated with composer/ producer Stephan Moccio (Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne) to release the top 40 single Soldier of Love. The track drew comparisons to powerful rock front-women Amy Lee and Florence Welch and set the stage for POESY to be a new alternative voice to watch. She signed a major label deal with Big Machine Label Group in May (2018). Following the national success of the single, POESY went on to give spellbinding performances at several Canadian music festivals. POESY has since joined forces with acclaimed producer and now-artist manager, Gavin Brown (Metric, Three Days Grace, Billy Talent) to build on her sound and artistic vision. The two have built up an eclectic, intensely emotional body of work to be released soon. Strange Little Girl is POESY’s first single from the project - an unapologetic feminist anthem, uniting unusual girls to step into the spotlight. POESY is a mirror for her audience; a place where they can see their own struggles, fears, desires, and dreams reflected back in an empowering larger than life performance to be shared together. -
