Current situation on Maharashtra Floods and Landslides Date: 03-08-2021 Humanitarian Aid International (HAI) is constantly assessing the situation through its local member Dr. Ambedkar Sheti Vikas Va Sanshodhan Sanstha (ASVSS) and techno-humanitarian partner InventGrid. Lifesaving immediate relief assistance to the worst affected people in the districts of Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, and Sangli has also been initiated with the support from Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited (SPNI), Himalaya Drug Company, and Lung Care Foundation. The current situation is summarized below. Background: Maharashtra witnessed high-intensity floods due to the incessant rains over the past few weeks. At least 209 people have died due to the floods in Maharashtra and eight still remain missing. A total of 4,34,185 people from eight districts have been evacuated to safer places, as rescue operations continue.1Among the 209 fatalities, the Satara district reported 46 deaths, followed by 35 in Ratnagiri, 15 in Thane, seven in Kolhapur, four in Mumbai, three in Pune, four in Sindhudurg and two each in eastern Maharashtra's Wardha and Akola districts. A total of 3,221 animals have died2. Meanwhile, the floodwater has entered the roads and fields, submerging many areas of the Sangli district in Maharashtra making it hard for people to commute from one place to another. According to preliminary estimates, losses to public and private properties are over ₹4,000 crore ($53,88,00,000). Losses due to flooding in Kolhapur and Sangli are ₹700 crore ($94,290,000). Electricity infrastructure worth ₹1,200 crore ($ 16,16,40,000) has been damaged, while damage to roads and bridges is over ₹1,500 crore ($202,050,000). Crops across 338,000 hectares have been damaged in western Maharashtra and Konkan. The state relief is expected to cover all affected elements by widening the scope of the set norms.3 Maharashtra is now dealing with twin disasters, i.e., the floods in the midst of the ongoing pandemic. The floods have posed a grave threat to the healthcare of patients who are being treated in hospitals, covid care centres and in home isolation. Both rural and urban centres have been equally hit. The situation in Kolhapur and Sangli towns isn’t good, and they have been evacuated to safer places where the situation is better. Barpande, Associate Professor, MIT Pune. In addition to this, the group also worked closely with Mr. Chaitanya Kachare, CHALLENGE Associate Professor, Transportation Design from MIT Institute of Design (a sister institute to MIT Design, fabricate and test a Quad-rotor UAV Pune) who guided them with the additive manufacturing and the aesthetics of the final design. that uses topology optimization to decrease weight, and increase strength. When designing a UAV, many factors must be taken into account, however, the fact that the vehicle is unmanned, removes a lot of design constraints and provides designers with significant SOLUTION freedom. Using topology optimization on such systems can help amplify this design freedom Optimization of UAV design space in solidThinking which often results in an exponential increase in the vehicle's performance. Inspire to create two new lightweight designs that were 3D printed for the UAV. The objective of the team’s project was to design, fabricate and test a Quad-rotor UAV.

Kashinath Sane published a mass of original material like Bakhars, Sanads, letters and other state papers in his journal Kavyetihas Samgraha for more eleven years during the nineteenth century. KarmayogiEngineering Collage, Shelve,Pandharpur 2 School of Earth Science, Dept. of Applied Geology, Solapur University, Solapur ABSTRACT The linking of the geomorphological parameters and geology with the hydrological characteristics of the basin provides a simple way to understand the hydrologic behavior of the different basins particularly of the ungauged basin in hard rocks like Deccan basalt.Thetechniques of geomorphometric analysis are useful in the quantitative description of the geometry of the drainage basins and its network which helps in characterizing the drainage network. The geomorphological landforms are important from the hydrological point of view and include the linear, aerial and relief aspects of the drainage basin. It has also been found that hydrogeologicalgeomorphological investigations besides helping in targeting potential zones for groundwater exploration provides inputs towards estimation of the total groundwater resources in an area, the selection of appropriate sites for artificial recharge and the depth of the weathering. In present investigation KhadkiNala basin which falls geographically under Solapur district of Maharashtra, has been taken up for groundwater development. The area falls under the rain shadow zone and frequent drought is a common feature in the area due to adverse climatic conditions. Geologically the area falls under the hard rock terrain consisting of basaltic lava flows. Geology of KhadkiNala basin contain massive basalt, vesicular, weathered or zeolitic basalt and quaternary soil.

It is the official language and co-official language in Maharashtra and Goa states of Western India respectively, and it is among the 23 official Languages of India. There were 73 million speakers in 2001; Marathi ranks 19th in the list of most spoken languages in the world. Marathi has the fourth largest number of native speakers in India. Marathi has some of the oldest literature of all modern Indo-Aryan languages, dating from about 900 AD. The major dialects of Marathi are Standard Marathi and the Varhadi dialect. There are other related languages such as Khandeshi, Dangi, Vadavali and Samavedi. Malvani Konkani has been heavily influenced by Marathi varieties. Geographic Distribution Marathi is primarily spoken in Maharashtra and parts of neighbouring states of Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, union-territories of Daman and Div and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The cities of Baroda, Surat and Ahmedabad (Gujrat), Belgaum (Karnataka), Indore, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Hydrabad and Tanjore (Tamil Nadu) each have sizable Marathi-speaking communities. Marathi is also spoken by Maharashtrian emigrants worldwide, especially in the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, Mauritius and Canada. Official Status Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra and co-official language in the union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

However, in recent years, while declining HIV trends are evident at the national level as well as in most of the States, some low prevalence and vulnerable States have shown rising trends, warranting focused prevention efforts in specific areas. The National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) is strongly evidence-based and evidence-driven. Based on evidence from ‘Triangulation of Data’ from multiple sources and giving due weightage to vulnerability, the organizational structure of NACP has been decentralized to identified districts for priority attention. The programme has been successful in creating a robust database on HIV/AIDS through the HIV Sentinel Surveillance system, monthly programme reporting data and various research studies.

Abstract: Agriculture is a largest economic sector and plays a very significant role in the socio economic development of our country, which is now in crises. The farmers of various states particularly in Maharashtra are in distress due to multiple factors ending in suicide in large scale. Farmer’s suicides in growing numbers throughout the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab is the most crucial problem and calls for the topmost priority in the agenda of rulers & policy makers. The suicidal trend set in 1991 by the farmers of Andhra Pradesh has spread to Maharashtra in 2000-01 and has been continued even today. Vidarbha is observed as the suicide prone/ danger zone of the state. In Vidarbha region more numbers of farmers have committed suicide to overcome the miseries due to various reasons viz. nonproduction of crops, bad debts, drought, lack of markets, marketing and irrigation facilities exploitation by private money lenders and other social and family causes arising out of the combination of various factors, but no one particular reason could be attributed to this saddest event of the mankind in the Indian history. The Rural Development agencies are coming in picture for the post suicidal help within their limits.
