We praise our God - song Pensive Doubting Fearful Heart

Pensive, doubting, fearful heart, hear what Christ the Savior says Every word should joy impart, change thy mourning into praise Yes, he speaks, and speaks to thee; may he help thee to believe! Then thou presently wilt see, thou has little cause to grieve

Fear thou not, nor be ashamed, all thy sorrows soon shall end I who heaven and earth have framed, Am thy husband and thy friend I the High and Holy One, Israel’s God by all adored As thy Savior will be known, Thy Redeemer and thy Lord

For a moment I withdrew, and thy heart was filled with pain But my mercies I’ll renew, thou shalt soon rejoice again Though I scorn to hide my face, very soon my wrath shall cease ‘Tis but for moment’s space, Ending in eternal peace

When my peaceful bow appears, Painted on the watery cloud ‘Tis to dissipate thy fears, Lest the earth should be overflowed ‘Tis an emblem too of grace, of my covenant love a sign Though the mountains leave their place, thou shalt be forever mine

Though afflicted, tempest-tossed, comfortless awhile thou art, Do not think thou can be lost, thou art graven on my heart All thy walls I will repair, thou shalt be rebuilt anew And in thee it shall appear, what a God of love can do

New Testament Reading John 2:13-22 13The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In

the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” 18So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” 19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Reader: The Gospel of the Lord People: Praise to you, Lord Christ. We confess our sins “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” -1 John 1:9

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen

We receive assurance of God's pardon 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart. Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

All: Amen! Thank you, Jesus, for living, dying, and rising for our sins!

We now take a moment to pass the peace of Christ to one another. Not as a break from worship, but a continuation.

Is He Worthy? Do you feel the world is broken? (We do) Do you feel the shadows? (We do) But do you know that all the dark won’t stop the light from getting through? (We do) Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)

Is all creation groaning? (It is) Is a new creation coming? (It is) Is the glory of the Lord to be the light withing our midst? (It is) Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? (It is)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole? Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll? The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave Is He worthy? Is He worthy? Of all blessing and honor and glory Is He worthy of this? He is

Does the Father truly love us? (He does) Does the Spirit move among us? (He does) And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves? (He does) Does our God intend to dwell again with us? (He does)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole? Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll? The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave From every people and tribe, every nation and tongue He has made us a kingdom and priests to God To reign with the Son Is He worthy? Is He worthy? Of all blessing and honor and glory Is He worthy? Is He worthy? Is He worthy of this? He is!

The Lord’s Supper

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Leader: It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you thanks and praise Holy Father, creator of heaven and earth. And we do not presume to come to your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your many and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, an increased faith as we come to sacramentally eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

So, brothers and sisters, let us proclaim the mystery of our faith.

All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. (Pause to take the Lord’s Supper together)

*We invite to the Lord’s Table all those who are baptized in the name of the Trinity and who are disciples of Jesus Christ, under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to our church that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. If you have any doubts about your participation, please speak to the pastor or one of the elders. All are welcome to come to the table to receive prayer if not partaking of the elements.

NOTE: We do use real wine in the Supper and we have gluten free, allergy-free cracker available

For the Joy For the joy set before you, for a bride dressed in white For a kingdom that will never end you laid down your life For the orphan and widow, for the slave and the free For the destitute, the prostitute, the pauper and king

I can hear the hammer pounding the nails I can hear the thunder roll High on that hill where wrath was poured on innocence And all my sins were paid for When you died for me Jesus, when you died for me

Not a thought of injustice, not a victimless crime Precious was the blood you shed that should have been mine And forsaking the torment as the tears burned your eyes For the joy set before you, you laid down your life

I can hear the hammer pounding the nails I can hear the thunder roll High on that hill where wrath was poured on innocence And all my sins were paid for When you died for me Jesus, when you died for me

God sends us out with hope- song

This is My Father’s World This is my Father’s world And to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings The music of the spheres This is my Father’s world I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas His hands the wonders wrought

This is my Father’s world The birds their carols raise The morning light, the lily white Declare their Maker’s praise This is my Father’s world He shines in all that’s fair In the rustling grass I hear Him pass He speaks to me everywhere

This is my Father’s world O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong God is the Ruler yet This is my Father’s world Why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King: let the heavens ring! God reigns; let earth be glad!

The Lord is King: let the heavens ring! God reigns; let earth be glad!
