GLOBEFORM ANALYSIS

CYMRIC, a Kentucky bred colt with five runs under his belt, has been a steady improver in his first season. He was a bit of a surprise when beaten only a neck by the unbeaten French colt Ultra in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1) over 1600 metres (one mile) on 'Arc' day at Longchamp – just under four weeks prior to the Breeders' Cup. He stayed on well from off the pace and was a game runner-up, a length in front of another English challenger, Galileo Gold (a colt who beat Birchwood by 2 lengths when winning a G2 in July). Cymric deserves to be favorite for the Juvenile Turf. He was 25-1 with the bookmakers in Paris, and the *1.90 odds in his PPs are minsleading, since he was coupled with two other Godolphin horses in the race (including the winner). His form was given a boost when Johannes Vermeer (fourth in the Lagardere) ran second in the Racing Post Trophy (G1) at Doncaster on Oct. 24. Even from a wide post, John Gosden's contender looks the one to beat here.

SHOGUN has been handed a better draw in four and must also be considered. Having raced in blinkers in his three last starts, he also ran a sound race in the Prix Jean Luc Lagardere (G1), to check in sixth, beaten 1 ¾ lengths by the winner, Andre Fabre's unbeaten colt Ultra. He was not far behind that day Cymric but it's hard to see him reversing the form – as Cymric had a wide trip and quickened up by far the best of the two. Shogun looks more of a grinder. He had previously won a maiden at The Curragh and been a well beaten third to Herald The Dawn (seventh in the Lagardere) in the Futurity Stakes (G2) over the same course.

HIT IT A BOMB was visually impressiove (but also long odds-on) when winning the Star Appeal Stakes (LR) over 7 furlongs at Dundalk on October, a race he took by 4 ¼ lengths from Siamsaicht, with Glass House third. Those two were previous winners but nowhere near G1 standard. Still, Hit It A Bomb did look pretty smart, on what was his second career start. He scraped home by a neck from 50-1 shot Agent of Chaos (not run since) when making his debut at The Curragh in September. Hit It A Bomb is very talented but also inexperienced, and he must overcome breaking from the widest stall. Having Ryan Moore in the saddle is a big plus.

BIRCHWOOD is a handy colt who has performed respectably against some of the best juvenile colts in Europe. He was bought by Godolphin after winning a competitive conditions stakes at Newbury in May, and has since won the Superlative Stakes (G2) at Newmarket, been fifth in a G2 at Goodwood and third of five behind champion juvenile Air Force Blue in the National Stakes (G1) at The Curragh (all three races were over 7 furlongs). A son of the equally precocious Dark Angel, Birchwood is more exposed than Cymric and Hit It a Bomb, but he has good form in the book and his experience will stand him in good stead.

AIROFORCE looks the best of the home team, having gained a clear cut win in the Bourbon Stakes (G3) over this course four weeks ago. He raced prominently throughout and stayed on well to beat Camelot Kitten by 2 ½ lengths. A son of Colonel John, Mark Casse's contender looked strong on stamina that day, and he cuts back half a furlong in distance in the Juvenile Turf. The Bourbon was his second career start, coming a month after his debut win over 6 furlongs at Kentucky Downs. CAMELOT KITTEN was staying on strongly without ever posing a threat in the Bourbon, and he would probably be better suited by a step up in distance.

HOLLYWOOD DON is an interesting runner, as he is coming out of the FrontRunner Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita, a race dominated by BC Juvenile contenders Nyquist and Swipe. The son of Tapit was third, beaten 6 ½ lengths (in what was his dirt debut). It was a sound effort and not far off the level of form he showed when taking the one-mile Del Mar Juvenile Turf in September (finished well from off the pace to beat Hot Ore by 1 ½ lengths).

GLOBEFORM ANALYSIS

LIAM'S MAP, drawn perfectly in stall three, looks the banker on Breeders' Cup Friday. Taking Globeform 124 into the battle, he is impossible to oppose. He produced his career best rating last time out, when powering home by almost five lengths in the 9-furlong Woodward Stakes (G1) at Saratoga, where he led every step of the way and proved way too good for Coach Inge and WICKED STRONG, who reopposes here. Liam's Map will be four pounds worse off at the weights but it is impossible to see Wicked Strong giving him a fight, particularly since this drop in trip is to the favorite's advantage. He has had a break since September 9, and cam back from a layoff also when splitting BC Classic contenders Honor Code and Tonalist in the Whitney Stakes (G1) in early August. A very enthusiastic runner, Liam's Map is 3-for-3 over a mile.

LEA, who was a good second in the Donn Handicap (G1) – a race he won in 2014 – and third in the Dubai World Cup (G1) early in the season, is coming off a runner-up effort in the Woodbine Mile (G1) on turf in Canada. Like Liam's Map, he has won all of his three races over a mile on the dirt, and he is an obvious Trifecta contender. He ran a solid race also when failing by just a neck in his attempt at giving Noble Bird four pounds in the 9-furlong Stephen Foster (G1) at Churchill Downs in June (with G1 winner Hoppertunity well beaten in third).

TAPITURE finished second in this event twelve months ago, when he produced his career best form to round out the exacta behind top class miler Goldencents at Santa Anita. He ran to Globeform 118 that day and returned GF 113 when regaining winning form last time out, indicating that he is on his way back to form at just the right time. Tapiture beat Viva Majorca by half a length to take the one-mile Ack Ack Handicap (G3) at Churchill Downs just over a month ago. He was coming off a three-month break and thus comes here a fresh horse.

GLOBEFORM ANALYSIS

CATCH A GLIMPSE takes the highest Globeform rating into this contest, having impressed with a comfortable 5-length win in the Natalma Stakes (G2) over a mile at Woodbine in September. That was her second win from three starts, following a fifth in a sloppy off-the-turf 5.5-furlong maiden at Saratoga and a solid allowance win over 7 furlongs on the lawn at Woodbine. She led all the way in the Natalma, racing with great composure, and quickened away early in the straight. She was never pressured but the impression was still that she is a special filly. Gamble's Ghost stayed on from the back to take second, while Caren was third. Gamble's Ghost came back with an impressive win in the Mazarina next time out and Caren took the Victorian Queen on her subsequent outing. The Natalma form is very solid, also when we look at horses further back in the race, and Catch a Glimpse must have an excellent chance here. Not very big, she probably won't mind any give in the ground. Being proven over a mile is also a plus. This daughter of City Zip was foaled as late as on May 13 and she is open to further improvement. Stall three, without serious speed to her inside, gives her a perfect starting point.

ILLUMINATE is one of the best juvenile fillies in England, and holds strong claims – though the division has not been absolute top class in Europe this year. Aidan O'Brien's filly Minding is seriously good, though she is a good few lengths ahead of the others. Illuminate won her first three starts, including the Albany Stakes (G3) over 6 furlongs at Royal Ascot and Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (G2) over the same distance at Newmarket (by a nose from Besharah). She came form off the pace when winning on her debut but has since shown a prominent running style, and she ran her best race to date when second to all-the-way winner Lumiere in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) over 6 furlongs at Newmarket in September. A daughter of Zoffany, she takes a step up in distance here. Europeans stay further in the US than at home, where straight tracks are more demanding but in this case we have a young filly stretching out by two furlongs, and she also has a tricky post position.

HARMONIZE was visually impressive when coming from well off the pace to win the Jessamine Stakes (G3) over 8.5 furlongs here at Keeneland just over three weeks ago. Coming off an easy 4-length win in the P G Johnson at Saratoga (breaking her maiden on her second start), she got up to win by a neck from SAPPHIRE'S KITTEN, who had won a 6-furlong maiden at Kentucky Downs on her only previous start. Both these fillies will be hoping for a strong pace, as they are cutting half a furlong back in distance here. It's hard to separate them but Harmonize went very wide in the Jessamine, when she was also conceding one pound, so perhaps she will have the edge again.

ALICE SPRINGS was ¾ length behind Illuminate in the 6-furlong Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) at Neswmarket in September, having run third behind the two subsequent G1 winners Minding and Ballydoyle in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) over 7 furlongs at The Curragh two weeks prior. The daughter of Galileo made a quick return to Newmarket just a week after the Cheveley Park, and won a valuable sales race over 7 furlongs. She was 2-5 favorite and had little to beat, so the facile 4-length win was nothing more than what was expected. Whether she can turn the turn the table on Illuminate is hard to say. She does not look as classy as an individual but she may have more stamina, and she has a better post position – so let's rank these two equally.

GLOBEFORM ANALYSIS

WEDDING TOAST comes here off three easy wins on the bounce and the Godolphin mare is clearly in the form of her life. She produced Globeform 120 when beating last year's BC Distaff winner (who has been ruled out this week) by 5 lengths in the (G1) at on June 6, and repeated the form when coming home 2 ¾ lengths in front of Curalina in the Stakes (G1) at the same venue on September 26. Wedding Toast enjoyed a break between these two runs, so she comes here quite fresh and must have a big chance from post seven. She is a speed-horse, however, and there are plenty of those in this field, meaning that we could get a crazy pace and a nice set-up for a filly ridden from off the pace.

STELLAR WIND fits the bill. A most impressive winner of the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) in early April, she had a tough trip run in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) a month later, still managed to get up for fourth place. Trainer John '' Sadler gave her a break after that and she has won twice in easier spots in California since. She looked solid when cruising home by over four lengths in the Torrey Pine (G3) over a mile at Del Mar in August (odds-on, beat Big Book for fun). Stellar Wind was laid off again after this success, her fifth win from seven starts, and she thus comes off a two-month break this weekend. Three of her wins have come after breaks so it's not a worry. The daughter of Curlin could well improve, and she is the selection.

SHEER DRAMA drew post 14 and is in danger of being floated wide going into the first turn. She has a prominent running style, used to such good effect for two wins on her two most recent outings; in the 10- furlong Delaware Handicap (G1) and 9-furlong (G1) at Saratoga. Frivolous and Got Lucky chased her home in these races and there is no reason to suggest either can turn the tables. Sheer Drama's one big plus is her stamina. She stays further than this trip and that quality will come handy if (as expected) this Distaff gets a strong pace. She has finished in the top two in all of her seven starts this year (and is 15- for-19 top three lifetime).
