Media information, 08/April/2018 Bahrain: Max celebrates podium on his first FIA Formula 2 Race weekend

Max started into the FIA FORMULA 2 Championship season with a fantastic second place in the Sunday sprint race and secured a total of 16 championship points in 4th place overall. Max reviews race 2: "The Start in Bahrain is not easy, and I lost the lead right at the start due to wheel spin. Afterwards it was a close battle at the front and in the end I was fighting hard, since the tyre degradation was making it challenging to defend. I am super happy with my first F2 podium on my debut-weekend. That’s a promising start into the season and I’m already looking forward to the next race in Baku! The team did a fantastic job, a big thank you to the crew and I look forward to achieve more and more improvements with them during this year."

Review race 1 (Saturday): Max made up some places and came home 8th, securing championship points as well as POLE POSITION for Sunday's race 2! "I did have a great start and made up some places right there and then. However the competition was not sleeping and was attacking hard. I had some good battles and managed to hold onto P8. I’m happy with this result in my very first F2 race, especially since it’s meant pole position for Race 2 on Sunday. What an exciting start into my first formula to season! I have to admit, the other guys are super-fast and I will give everything in the Sunday race."

Review Qualifying (Friday) P10:

"My very first qualify in F2 was quite interesting. The field is extremely competitive and I was giving it all. As a team we are still learning how to work together for the best results, and I know, in future this will work even better. We had the potential for a top 5 position, but things didn’t work together for us this time. For now we had to settle with P 10 and I knew I was going to give it all in the race."
