Colorado has outscored the opponent 51-24 in the fourth quarter this season, and owns a 507-330 edge in yards (393- 181 the last two games). That’s already more points than the Buffs scored in the fourth period in all of 2018 (39), and almost half the yardage (1,037). Looking back at the last six games of 2018 (all losses), CU was outscored 67-3 in the final stanza and outgained by 598-460. The school record for the most points in a fourth quarter in 130 in 2018, though CU has scored 100 or more in the quarter 11 times (just three times in 12-game seasons; once again, CU does not include bowl stats in its season records). OBSCURE NOTE OF THE WEEK Colorado was 7-of-7 against Air Force on 3rd/4th-&-5 or less in last Saturday’s 30-23 overtime setback (5-of-5 on third down, 2-of-2 on fourth). TB Jaren Mangham converted four of those, WR Laviska Shenault two and TB Alex Fontenot one. Shenault also earned four other first downs on third down with 8, 15, 6 and 8 yards to go. In all, Shenault earned nine first downs on 11 touches, plus a touchdown on a short run that tied the game that is not credited with a first down (as in the NFL). 2019 COLORADO SCHEDULE & RESULTS (2-1, 0-0 Pac-12) 2019 Date CU* Opponent Opp* TV Result/Time Record Series This-N-That or ’18 rewind Aug. 30 --- Colorado State (N; Denver) --- ESPN W 52-31 1-2 67-22-2 The last M Showdown in Denver ends with CU’s fifth straight win over the Rams SEPT. 7 --- NEBRASKA 25 FOX W 34-31 (OT) 2-1 20-49-2 Offseason conditioning enables Buffs to rally from down 17-0 to dominate late SEPT. 14 --- AIR FORCE --- PAC12 L 23-30 (OT) 2-0 12- 5-0 AFA wins first meeting since ‘74, though CU rallied down 13 to send game into OT Sept. 21 --- at Arizona State (N) 24 PAC12 8:10 p.m. 3-0 2- 8-0 Shenault’s 4 TDs (2 rushing/2 receiving) lead Buffs to win over the Sun Devils OCT. 5 ARIZONA (FW) TBA TBA 2-1 14- 7-0 Wild see-saw affair sees combined 59 points in second and third quarters Oct. 11 at Oregon (N) FS-1 8:00 p.m. 2-1 9-12-0 Last meeting: CU, 41-38 in ’16 at Eugene (Montez: 333, 3 TD pass, 135, 1 TD run) Oct. 19 at Washington State TBA TBA 3-0 6- 6-0 Buffs score first but WSU takes control in last three quarters, run 94 plays on Off OCT. 25 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (N) ESPN2 7:00 p.m. 2-1 0-13-0 USC takes control with 21 points in last half of second quarter (up 21-7 at half) Nov. 2 at UCLA TBA TBA 0-3 4-10-0 22-point win is largest by CU in series (four previous games decided by 21 points) NOV. 9 STANFORD (HC) TBA TBA 1-2 4- 6-0 Buffs won last meeting in 2016 at Stanford (10-5) NOV. 23 WASHINGTON TBA TBA 2-1 6-11-1 UW up 14-13 at half; has now outscored CU 67-6 in last three second halves Nov. 30 at Utah TBA TBA 3-0 32-30-3 Utes snap 7-7 halftime tie with 23 second half points Dec. 6 Pac-12 Championship Game ABC 6:00 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, Calif.; game moves to Las Vegas in 2020) (KEY: *—AP rank at time of game; —Pac-12 Conference game; N—Night game; HC—Homecoming; FW—Family Weekend.
