The landscape was moon-surface-rocky and bare when the Porsches gathered at Bandimere Speedway on November 14, 1981. Hurtling around the 1.9-mile orbit were 77 PCAers, traveling in colorful ships named 356’s, 911’s, 914’s and 924’s, and one black 928 which was disguised to look like a dark cloud. The top time of the day was Dennis Gordon, AMR, with a time of 1:40.992.
