The playlist includes 20 hits spanning the band’s prolific 31 years as a band, plus a brand new song called “Back In The USA” and a new duet with award-winning Country Music superstar Miranda Lambert on “Ordinary World.” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong previously collaborated with Lambert at the 56th annual Grammy® Awards in 2014 for a live duet in tribute of the late Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers. Off the heels of their wildly successful Revolution Radio World Tour which included stops at the Oakland Coliseum, Wrigley Field and the Rose Bowl, comes Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band – available everywhere on November 17th. Physical pre-orders are available now at www.greenday.com. See below for a complete track listing. On March 22nd, God miraculously came down to the Ed Sullivan Theatre to introduce Green Day as “God’s Favorite Band” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. When God speaks people listen, and that day God bestowed upon Green Day the title: Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band. The collection chronicles the sonic journey of one of the most essential and dynamic rock bands in recent history. Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day achieved breakout success with 1994’s Dookie which has sold over 10 million copies to date in the U.S. alone. Widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, Green Day would go on to release Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), and Warning (2000). In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera American Idiot which captured the nation’s attention and sold more than six million copies in the U.S. Mojo declared “It's exhilarating stuff, the kind of record that sets new parameters as to what is possible from a punk rock'n'roll band in the 21st century.” In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway. The band went on to release the critically acclaimed 21st Century Breakdown (2009) and the album trilogy Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, and Green Day ¡Tré (2012). Green Day is one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. The group has won five Grammy Awards. On April 18, 2015, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the 2015 class in what was their first year of eligibility for induction. Green Day's 12th studio album Revolution Radio was released on October 7, 2016 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Upon its release, People proclaimed: “The punk vets still have a tattooed finger on the national pulse.” Last month, Billie Joe Armstrong performed “Ordinary World” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon before a show stopping Green Day performance at Global Citizen Festival in Central Park in New York City. In November they’ll head to South America for another run of dates. To see a complete list of upcoming dates, visit www.greenday.com/tour. Track Listing 1. 2000 Light Years Away 2. Longview 3. They swaddled her, folding and tucking the pink blanket around her just like the nurse had shown them. The setting Texas sun bathed their fields in fiery oranges and golds, and there seemed to be no better time to give their baby a tour of the farm. The man and his wife stepped out onto the porch. He carried the pink bundle like she was made out of glass and might break. The rich brown of his wife’s hair stirred in the breeze as she smoothed the blankets. They sat in the wicker rocking chairs and gazed out over the cattle grazing peacefully. “Welcome to paradise, little one,” the man said. Looking down at his perfect baby girl, his little miracle, the man felt happiness in a way he never had before. His wife hummed in contentment, echoing his satisfaction. His eyes were still on the baby when he felt a change around them. The cows went still, some of their heads still lowered to the grass. The wind stopped rustling the tall weeds that he hadn’t gotten around to mowing. The air felt heavy, the way it did before a storm broke.

Acknowledgements There are a number of people who have aided this project, my development as a professional scholar, and my success at the University of Oklahoma. I owe a huge debt to Dr. Terry Rugeley, my advisor and mentor for the last four and a half years. From my first day at the University of Oklahoma he encouraged me to pursue my own interests and provided key insights into the historian’s craft. He went out of his way to personally introduce me to a number of archives, people, and cities in Mexico. He further acquainted me with other historians in the United States. Most importantly, he gave his time. He never failed to be there when I needed assistance and he always read, critiqued, and returned chapter drafts in a timely manner. Dr. Rugeley and his wife Dr. Margarita Peraza-Rugeley always welcomed me into their home, providing hospitality, sound advice, the occasional side job, and friendship. Thank you both. Other professors at OU helped guide my development as a historian, and their assistance made this dissertation a stronger work.
