Why is this important? • Improves the competitiveness of our teams and deepens our coaching experience and development opportunities. • Supports the long-term strategies of each club to meet the increasing competition for ECNL- level elite players and coaches throughout the Washington DC metropolitan region. • Aligns each club’s mission and vision to broaden positive social impact to the community through soccer. 2 MYS/SYC Program Structure MYS/SYC Elite National Regional, State Regional, State 3 Program Benefits Player Pool: Facilitate and grow opportunities for player development. – Maintain and increase competitiveness at elite levels. – Continuously improve the attraction and retention of talented and diverse individuals. Fields: Increase access to lighted fields. Staff: Expand coaching, professional development and employment opportunities for all MYS/SYC staff.   • Heather O'reilly Is a Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist and a Three
    Heather O’Reilly is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a three-time World Cup medalist with the US Women’s National Team. She debuted with the National Team at age 17, and spent nearly 15 years representing her country, recently ending her international career in 2016 with 231 caps, 47 goals, and 55 assists. Heather was a member of the 2015 World Cup winning team, and holds the record for most consecutive games played in the US uniform with 76. O’Reilly is also a champion at the club level, leading her professional clubs to league titles in 2009 and 2015 and won the NWSL Shield in 2018 with her current club, the North Carolina Courage. Heather also spent a year and a half in London playing for Arsenal Football Club. O’Reilly graduated from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill with a degree in Education, where she led the Tar Heels to two National Championships. O’Reilly has a history and passion for bringing soccer to underserved communities, and has also been an ambassador for America Scores and Right to Play. Heather resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with her husband Dave, although her parents Andrew and Carol still live in East Brunswick. She credits her former teammates at EBHS and Coaches Lou Kosa, Brian Merrigan, and athletic director Frank Noppenberger for leading her during her pivotal high school years at EBHS. Heather continues her career as a professional soccer player, but is looking towards broadcasting, coaching, and nonprofit work as her playing days come to an end.
