In terms of Article 62 of the Company’s Articles of Association it was noted that Bailie Elizabeth Cameron had vacated office as Chair of the company at the conclusion of the company’s AGM on 2 September 2009. The Rt Hon George Reid, seconded by Councillor Anne McTaggart moved that the Board re-appoint Bailie Elizabeth Cameron as Chair of the Board. The Board unanimously agreed.     MSPs BY CONSTITUENCY AND REGION Scottish SESSION 1 Parliament This Fact Sheet provides a list of all Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) who served during the first parliamentary session, Fact sheet 12 May 1999-31 March 2003, arranged alphabetically by the constituency or region that they represented. Each person in Scotland is represented by 8 MSPs – 1 constituency MSPs: Historical MSP and 7 regional MSPs. A region is a larger area which covers a Series number of constituencies. 30 March 2007 This Fact Sheet is divided into 2 parts. The first section, ‘MSPs by constituency’, lists the Scottish Parliament constituencies in alphabetical order with the MSP’s name, the party the MSP was elected to represent and the corresponding region. The second section, ‘MSPs by region’, lists the 8 political regions of Scotland in alphabetical order. It includes the name and party of the MSPs elected to represent each region. The National Rail Enquiries (NRE) website appears to have coped well with very high volumes 2. The online real time journey planner on the NRE website did not show correct information for some train operating companies (TOCs) 3. The online journey planners on TOC and third-party websites did not generally reflect the contingency timetables in operation 4. Tickets continued to be available for sale online for many trains that would not run 5. Station displays appear to have reflected formal contingency timetables, except for Southeastern 6. Station displays and online Live Departure Boards did not always keep pace with events 7. The NRE call centres appear to have provided good information, but queuing times of 11 or 12 minutes were common. 1 The National Rail Enquiries appears to have coped well with very high volumes We saw no evidence that the NRE website crashed or was slower than usual, despite a large spike in volume (Chris Scoggins reported that the volume on 2 December was twice the previous record peak on 7 January 2010). 2 The online real time journey planner on the NRE website did not show correct information for some train operating companies NRE had to advise passengers not to use the journey planner for enquiries about East Coast, Southeastern and South West Trains.     MINISTERS, LAW OFFICERS AND Scottish MINISTERIAL PARLIAMENTARY AIDES BY Parliament CABINET: SESSION 1 Fact sheet This Fact sheet provides a list of all of the Scottish Ministers, Law Officers and Ministerial Parliamentary Aides during Session 1, from 12 May 1999 until the appointment of new Ministers in the second MSPs: Historical parliamentary session. Series Ministers and Law Officers continue to serve in post during 30 March 2007 dissolution. The first Session 2 cabinet was appointed on 21st May 2003. A Minister is a member of the government. The Scottish Executive is the government in Scotland for devolved matters and is responsible for formulating and implementing policy in these areas. The Scottish Executive is formed from the party or parties holding a majority of seats in the Parliament. During Session 1 the Scottish Executive consisted of a coalition of Labour and Liberal Democrat MSPs. The senior Ministers in the Scottish government are known as ‘members of the Scottish Executive’ or ‘the Scottish Ministers’ and together they form the Scottish ‘Cabinet’. They are assisted by junior Scottish Ministers. With the exception of the Scottish Law Officers, all Ministers must be MSPs. This fact sheet also provides a list of the Law Officers. The Scottish Law Officers listed advise the Scottish Executive on legal matters and represent its interests in court. The final section lists Ministerial Parliamentary Aides (MPAs). MPAs are MSPs appointed by the First Minister on the recommendation of Ministers whom they assist in discharging their duties. MPAs are unpaid and are not part of the Executive. Their role and the arrangements for their appointment are set out in paragraphs 4.6-4.13 of the Scottish Ministerial Code.

We now know the Tory chancellor expects low paid workers to bear the brunt of his austerity measures after he announced a four-year freeze on in-work benefits for millions of people in his emergency July Budget. Chancellor George Osborne also announced: n Tax credits and Universal Credit to be restricted to two children, affecting those born after April 2017. n Income threshold for tax credits to be reduced from £6,420 to £3,850 n Working-age benefits to be frozen for four years - including tax credits and local housing allowance, (although maternity pay and disability benefits will be 22 exempted). In a major departure for the Conservative Party (who opposed the introduction of Labour’s National Minimum Wage), the Budget also included the introduction of a new national living wage for all workers aged over 25, starting at £7.20 an hour from April 2016 and set to reach £9 by 2020.

Foreword The Journal is the central, long-term, authoritative record of what the Parliament has done. The Minutes of Proceedings, which are produced for each meeting of the Parliament, do that in an immediate way, while the Journal presents essentially the same material but has the benefit of hindsight to allow any errors and infelicities of presentation to be corrected. Unlike the Official Report, which primarily records what is said, the Minutes of Proceedings, and in the longer term the Journal, provide the authoritative record of what was done. The Journal is required under Rule 16.3 of Standing Orders and contains, in addition to the Minutes of Proceedings themselves, notice of any Bill introduced*, notice of any instrument or draft instrument or any other document laid before the Parliament; notice of any report of a committee, and any other matter that the Parliament, on a motion of the Parliamentary Bureau, considers should be included. (* The requirement to include notice of Bills introduced was only added to Rule 16.3 in January 2003. However, such notices have in practice been recorded in the Annex to the Minutes of Proceedings from the outset.) As Leader, Gordon Matheson has established the Commonwealth Jobs and Graduate Funds; approved a scheme to reduce Glasgow’s landfill by 90%; introduced winter fuel payments to pensioners, and embarked on the refurbishment or rebuild of every school in the city. Gordon says that he copes with his busy schedule by taking his full complement of annual leave and holidaying in the sun whenever possible, especially in Italy. Ghazala Ghazala has been involved in the third sector for the past ten years Hakeem, working directly with grassroots communities and serving on Poverty Truth management committees and boards. Commissioner Ghazala has been involved in anti-poverty work for many years; she was one of the original testifiers with the Poverty Truth Commission. She has a long record of volunteering in Glasgow, including for instance with Amina – the Muslim Women’s Resource Centre and for the Govanhill Festival. She has been on the management committee of the Govanhill Housing Association and the Govanhill Community Development Trust, among other organisations. She has also served on the Children’s Panel. Ghazala recently won the Scottish Muslim Women's Award for Contribution to Community Work. Aileen Aileen was first elected in 1999 and now serves the multi-member Colleran, ward of Partick West.
