Distance Running Results Vol. 10, No. 49 – 20 December 2010 © Distance Running Results. All rights reserved. ____________________________________________________________________ Distance Running Results (DRR) publishes results of races 800 metres and longer from all over the world with the focus on South African results. DRR is available by subscription only. For subscription information send an e-mail to the address at the end of this issue. Publisher: Riël Hauman ____________________________________________________________________ EDITORIAL A big issue to end the year with. It includes results of two of South Africa’s oldest short- distance races, the Avbob 15 km, which was held for the 30 th time, and the Calder Cup/Sulin Trophy 10 km, which saw its 29 th running (it would also have been the 30 th running, but the race was cancelled last year). In Albufeira, Portugal, Sergey Lebid (UKR) won an amazing ninth European cross-country title. The 35-year-old runner is the only athlete to have competed in every Championships since they were established in 1994 and has achieved the astonishing feat of winning the gold medal at the majority of them. This is the last issue of Distance Running Results for 2010, the tenth year of its existence. I would like to thank all the dedicated contributors for their assistance in sending results and other information during the year and answering my queries; this newsletter would not have existed without your help. A special thought goes to KZN correspondent Alen Hattingh, who is experiencing health problems and is currently in hospital. I wish all contributors and readers compliments of the season and a wonderful, healthy and happy 2011.
