[CLIENT] McMahonHughes1901 IWS1901079mh 15 April 2019 Research Highlights GOALS Extend all ancestral lines of Peter McMahon as far as time and records allow. Peter McMahon was born in 1835 in Ireland and was the spouse of Margaret Hughes. Specifically: Where was Peter born in Ireland? Who were his parents and siblings? Extend all ancestral lines of Margaret Hughes as far as time and records allow. Margaret Hughes was born about 1839 in Den, Ayrshire, Scotland, and was the spouse of Peter McMahon. PROGRESS Located the passenger lists for James McMahon’s trip to and from the United Kingdom but found no mention of a location in Ireland as part of his itinerary. Determined Peter McMahon was the son of John McMahon and Helen Duffie, all born in Ireland. Identified five potential candidates for Peter’s mother, Helen Duffie, in the Irish baptismal records. Identified Margaret Hughes’s parents—John Hughes and Helen Simond. Discovered the baptismal record for Margaret Hughes. Identified six siblings of Margaret Hughes. Discovered the existence of Margaret Hughes’s illegitimate son, born ten years after Peter’s death. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Utilize the client’s autosomal DNA results to search for Irish (McMahon) and Scottish (McMahon and Hughes) relations who have also taken autosomal DNA tests. To increase the efficiency of the comparison of genetic cousins, it is suggested the client’s father, a direct descendant of Peter McMahon and Margaret Hughes, also participate in autosomal DNA testing. 2. Trace the five Helen Duffies identified in this research session to eliminate those who died in Ireland and/or who married and remained in Ireland after Peter’s birth.

Custom Report for James Horen Horan and Ellen Aylward Jan 1790 Name: James Horen Horan Birth: Jan 1790 in Ireland Marriage: Abt. 1835 in Ireland Death: 14 Dec 1853 in Carltom, MI Person Notes: James HORAN James Horen (Horan) 1790-1853 James married Ellen Aylward (1815-1877) in Ireland on or before 1835. He was about 45 years old and Ellen was about 20 years old. They had one son in Ireland on January 8, 1836, John. There is no real data where James and Ellen came from in Ireland. All we have are clues. On NO documents, including Naturalization papers, census, Civil War enlistments or Gravestones does it ever show an Ireland location. In St.Patricks Cemetery in Michigan almost all other Irish gravestones show a county. The possibilities are: A. Aylwards are concentrated in Waterford and Kilkinney B. The farm next to James' were the Dunns. They were from South Meath and Kings Counties. C. Many of James' other neighbors were from Albilone. D. Galway, Cork, and Wexford counties because O'Horans were there E. Thomas, son of James, wanted to marry the daughter of Michael Mahoney and Nancy O'Hara. The neighbors of James and Ellen. However she was already married so he sent away to Ireland for Michael's and Nancy's other daughter. Thomas then married Mary Mahoney. So James may have come from the same county as the Mahoney's. They came to the United States between February,1836 and July 1839. John being born in Ireland on January 8,1836 and James Jr.

  • Research Results Report from Tara A. Fantauzzi, Professional Genealogist
Research Results Report from Tara A. Fantauzzi, Professional Genealogist Date: 8 June 2015 Addressed to: Peg Hovish Subject: Direct ancestors of, Carroll Francis Quinlan Starting Point Client submitted copies of original documentation which helps to verify her lineage as far back as generation four, see DAR Genealogy Worksheet. Client has a desire to apply as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and believes her ancestor, Carroll Francis Quinlan, was a direct descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton. Known D.A.R. Patriot, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, was born circa 1737 in Baltimore, Maryland, and was said to have died in Maryland on 14 November circa 1832-1835. A D.A.R. Record Copy for Nat’l No. 6190999, was submitted, which is a copy of the lineage Catherine Hill Stewart proved to determine she was a descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton. No information in her lineage has any link or connection to Utica, New York. Most importantly, client paid volunteer librarian, Robert Barnes, for one hour of research to establish and prove a connection between client and Charles Carroll, but at the conclusion of his work he advised client to continue searching to prove a New York link to the Carroll family of Maryland. A preliminary analysis of the direct ancestors of Margaret T. Quinlan Hovish indicated there is not a likely connection between the Carroll ancestors of Margaret Hovish and the Carroll family of Maryland, linked to Charles Carroll of Carrolltown. The parents of Carroll Francis Quinlan were said to have been James Quinlan, and Mary C.

  • Major Trends in the Use of Occupation As Therapy In
The current issue and full text archive of this journal is available on Emerald Insight at: www.emeraldinsight.com/2398-8819.htm IJOT 45,1 Major trends in the use of occupation as therapy in Ireland 1863-1963 4 Judith Pettigrew, Katie Robinson, Brid Dunne and Jennifer O' Mahoney Received 11 April 2016 Accepted 16 January 2017 Department of Clinical Therapies, University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland Abstract Purpose – Major gaps exist in the documented history of occupational therapy in Ireland. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to filling these gaps by providing an overview of three major transitions in Irish occupational therapy in the century preceding the opening of St. Joseph’s College of Occupational Therapy in 1963. Research on occupational therapy’s past is valuable not only for recording and commemorating key events and individuals but also for allowing reflection on and questioning of contemporary practice and assumptions. Design/methodology/approach – This descriptive paper draws on multiple documentary sources to present an overview of the first 100 years of the use of occupation as therapy/occupational therapy in Ireland from 1863 to 1963. Findings – Three major transitions in occupational therapy in Ireland are presented: from moral treatment and the use of occupation as therapy to medical patronage of occupational therapy, from medical patronage to the early/pre-professional era and finally from the pre-professional era to the era of professionally qualified occupational therapists. To illustrate these transitions, a small number of individuals and their contributions are discussed including Dr Eamon O’Sullivan, Dr Ada English, Donal Kelly, Olga Gale and Ann Beckett.
