Based on the Act, the Government in G.O. No. 340 Health and Family Welfare Department dated 19.02.1982 constituted the Tamil Nadu Prevention and Control of Water Pollution Board on 27.02.1982. The Government has declared the entire area within the State of Tamil Nadu as Air Pollution Control areas vide G.O.Ms. No.4, Environment Control Department dated 28.09.1983 under Section 19 (1) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
