E-15002 A Coruña (ESPAÑA). e-mail: [email protected] Resumen: Se elabora un listado comentado y puesto al día de los Drepanidae (Lepidoptera) presentes en O Courel (Lugo, Galicia, España, N.O. Península Ibérica), recopilando los datos bibliográficos existentes (sólo para dos especies) a los que se añaden otros nuevos como resultado del trabajo de campo del autor alcanzando un total de 13 especies. Entre los nuevos registros aportados se incluyen tres primeras citas para la provincia de Lugo: Drepana curvatula (Borkhausen, 1790), Watsonalla binaria (Hufnagel, 1767) y Cimatophorina diluta ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775). Incluimos también nuevas citas de Drepanidae para otras localidades del resto del territorio gallego, entre las que aportamos las primeras de Falcaria lacertinaria (Linnaeus, 1758) para las provincias de Ourense y Pontevedra. Abstract: Lepidoptera from O Courel (Lugo, Galicia, Spain, NW Iberian Peninsula) VII: Drepanidae (Lepidoptera). An updated and annotated list of the Drepanidae (Lepidoptera) know to occur in O Courel (Lugo, Galicia, Spain, NW Iberian Peninsula) is made, compiling the existing bibliographic records (only for two species) and reaching up to 13 species after adding new ones as a result of field work undertaken by the author. Amongst the new data the first records of Drepana curvatula (Borkhausen, 1790), Watsonalla binaria (Hufnagel, 1767) and Cimatophorina diluta ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) for the province of Lugo are reported. -

Despite the proximity of Sredna Gora Mountains to Sofia, the insect assemblages of this region are poorly studied. As a result of two studies carried out as a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment in the Natura 2000 Protected Areas: Sredna Gora and Popintsi, a rich diversity of insects was discovered, with 107 saproxylic and epigeobiont Coleoptera species and 355 Lepidoptera species recorded. This research was conducted during a short one-season field study in the surrounding areas of the town of Panagyurishte and Oborishte Village. Special attention was paid to protected species and their conservation status. Of the Coleoptera recorded, 22 species were of conservation significance. Forty-five Lepidoptera species of conservation importance were also recorded. KEY WORDS.WORDS. Receive 10 April, 2014; Accepted 24 April, 2014 The status of medicinal plants in the high mountains of northern Jordan was evaluated. A total of 227 plant species belonging to 54 genera and 60 families were recorded. The survey is based on field trips conducted in the areas that include Salt, Jarash, Balka, Amman and Irbid governorates. Line transect method was used; collection of plant species was done and voucher specimens were deposited. A map for the target area was provided; the location of the study area grids in relation to their governorate was included. Key words: Medicinal plants, high mountains of northern Jordan, folk medicine. On the basis of bioclimatic, biogeographic and coenological diagnosis the Quercetalia pubescenti-petraeae order occurs in the study area in the form of five alliances: Quercion pubescenti-petraeae (suball.: Buxo-Quercenion pubescentis), Carpinion orientalis (suball.: Campanulo-Ostryenion, Laburno-Ostryenion stat. nov.; Lauro-Quercenion pubescentis and Cytiso-Quercenion pubescentis), Teucrio siculi-Quercion cerridis nom. conserv. propos. (suball.: Teucrio-Quercenion cerridis suball. nov., Ptilostemo-Quercenion cerridis); Pino-Quercion congestae (suball.: Pino-Quercenion congestae suball. nov., Quercenion virgilianae suball. nov.) and Erythronio-Quercion petraeae. The Quercion pubescenti-petraeae is a sintaxon with a sub-continental character and within the Italian Peninsula it is restricted to Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennine in the form of the sub-alliance Buxo- Quercenion pubescentis. Carpinion orientalis is a sintaxon with oceanic/suboceanic features, which is widely distributed along the entire Italian Peninsula. It occurs mainly on limestone substrates forming woodlands which can be potential vegetation types and also woods of secondary origin and evolution. The Teucrio-Quercion cerridis is an alliance which is widely distributed within central and southern Italy, where it finds its coenological optimum on acid, subacid or neutral substrates such as volcanic outcrops, flysch, sandstones or clayey-arenaceous sediments. -

However, the discovery of cryptic species in virtually all 32 taxonomic groups unveiled major gaps in our knowledge of biodiversity. Mimicry complexes are good 33 candidates to source for cryptic species. Indeed, members of mimicry complexes undergo selective pressures 34 on their habitus, which results in strong resemblance between both distantly and closely related species. -

Russo Abstract This study summarises the known records of the Macrolepidoptera species of the “Bosco Palazzi” area near the municipality of Putignano (Apulia region) in the Murgia mountains in southern Italy. The list of species is based on historical bibliographic data along with new material collected by other entomologists in the last few decades. A total of 207 species belonging to the families Cossidae (3 species), Drepanidae (4 species), Lasiocampidae (7 species), Limacodidae (1 species), Saturniidae (2 species), Sphingidae (5 species), Brahmaeidae (1 species), Geometridae (55 species), Notodontidae (5 species), Nolidae (3 species), Euteliidae (1 species), Noctuidae (96 species), and Erebidae (24 species) were identified. -

The differential features from the next similar species are presented. This is the first record of this genus from Laos. C. gelidata, C. nana, C.splendens and C. heinzhuebneri sp. n. are comparetively treated. Die Unterscheidungsmerkmale zu den nächsten ähnlichen Arten werden erläutert. Es ist der erste Nachweis einer Art dieser Gattung aus Laos. Die ähnlichen Arten dieser Gattung C. gelidata, C. nana, C. splendens und C. heinzhuebneri sp. n. werden vergleichend abgehandelt. Introduction Drepanidae (hook tip moths) are a relatively small, and well known family. Most of the species occur in South-East Asia with about 400 species in the Oriental region (BUCHSBAUM 2000, 2003, BUCHSBAUM & MILLER 2002, HEPPNER 1991). The Siamese Subregion, also called Indo-Burmese or Indo-Chinese region is one of the biodiversity hotspots in the world (BROOKS et. al. 2002, MITTERMEIER et al. 1998, MYERS et al. 2000, SEDLAG 1984, 1995).
