  • Carroll Finds Success, Stability in New Role
SUNDAY, 7 JANUARY 2018 CARROLL FINDS SUCCESS, THE EAGLE DIGS DEEP FOR THIRD L'ORMARINS QUEEN'S PLATE by Liesl King STABILITY IN NEW ROLE In front of a large blue-and-white attired crowd, Legal Eagle (SAf) (Greys Inn) produced probably the best and most heart stopping victory of his career to win the R1.5-million G1 WFA L'Ormarins Queen's Plate S. over 1600m at Kenilworth on Saturday. It was Legal Eagle's third straight victory in the race, and while their hearts may have been in their mouths, the crowd cheered their favourite home. The early part of the race was uneventful as Legal Eagle with Anton Marcus in the saddle, slotted in on the rail from barrier two. From barrier nine, Corne Orffer was forced to bring Captain America (SAf) (Captain Al {SAf}) out wide, making his way around the field, before slipping in on the rail in front of Legal Eagle. Knowing Captain America is not blessed with a sprint finish, Orffer wasted no time idling in front and sent the strapping bay for home. With a quickly lengthening gap aided by an unusual tailwind, Anton Marcus had no choice but to give David Carroll | Coady photography chase and Legal Eagle was forced to dig deep as he chased down his old nemesis. By Bill Finley Racing for the first time in the yellow and purple silks of Braam His father, his brother and his nephew all turned out to be top van Huyssteen, William Henderson and Hedley McGrath, Legal riders, but David Carroll just wasn=t blessed with the jockey Eagle was closing the gap, but due to the fast pace, it was not as gene.

Bill Oppenheim, February 27, 2003 – The Royal Ascot of Jumping his fourth straight win (there was no Cheltenham in 2001, FROM THE DESK OF... due to foot-and-mouth) makes this year's renewal a pretty open-looking contest. Last year's winner, French-bred Hors Bill Oppenheim La Loi III (by Arctic Tern's son, Cyborg, winner of six races on the flat and nine over jumps in France) is a 16-1 outsider, not having won since. • Media Representations of Cultural and Sports Festivals, the Marketing of Place Image and Local Economic Development: the Case of Cheltenham, England
Media representations of cultural and sports festivals, the marketing of place image and local economic development: The case of Cheltenham, England Andrew Bradley OXSTALLS LEARNING CENTRE UNIVERSITY OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE Oxstalls Lane Gloucester GL2 9HW Tel: 01242 715100 A thesis submitted to the University of Gloucestershire in accordance with the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Environment and Leisure Acknowledgements I would like to take this opportunity to thank my two supervisors: Dr. Tim Hall and Professor Mick Healey for their encouragement and constructive criticism at all stages in the formation of this thesis. Their advice has been invaluable in the development of this study and the manner in which it was conducted. This research would also have been impossible without the ·access that was afforded fo many of Cheltenham' s most prominent business people. The generous donation of their time and the interest that they showed in this research was truly appreciated. I would also like to thank Elizabeth Precious whose constant belief in me has kept me going and John Hill for his ability to make me laugh even under the darkest of circumstances. It would also be inappropriate to forget the residents of the now disbanded Graduate School at the University of Gloucestershire for their myriad of pleasant distractions such as endless transfer speculation, fantasy football and staff football on Wednesday nights. Thanks, therefore, are offered to (in alphabetical order): Joy Bringer, Kath Browne, Stuart Nelmes, Barney Pell, George Vigileos and Nick Wright. Abstract During the 1980s and 1990s energetic image enhancement and promotional campaigns have been an almost ubiquitous characteristic of different localities throughout the world, with the enhancement and promotion of place image now being seen as a vital part of economic development strategies.
