Agenda Hednesford Community Forum Agenda Hednesford Community Forum Time and Date 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday 14 January, 2009 Venue Hednesford Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Anglesey Street, Hednesford. You are invited to attend this meeting to consider the matters listed below. S.G. Brown Chief Executive AGENDA 1. Apologies 2. Notes To receive the Notes of the meeting held on 9 September, 2008 (Attached). 3. Chase 3 – Enterprising Town Centres A presentation will be given by Michelle Lucas , Chase 3 Projects Manager , Southern Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce appealing for traders and businesses to form an official trade association . 4. Update regarding Hednesford Town Centre Item requested by Councillor G. Ball 1 Mr Watson, the Council’s Economic Development Manager will be attending to deal with this item. 5. Update regarding Cannock Stadium Item requested by Councillor G. Ball Mr Phillips, the Council’s Head Planning and Regeneration will be attending to deal with this item. 6. Update regarding Stafford Lane Speed Reducing Measures Item requested by Councillor G. Ball Mr. D. Botfield, Staffordshire County Council will be attending to deal with this item. 7. Question Received from Member of the Public The following question has been submitted by Mr. Mayou, local resident. "I would like to raise issues relating to road safety at the forthcoming Hednesford Community Forum. A great concern is speeding traffic using Anglesey Street, this Street is now becoming very busy at all times of the day. While i do not wish to call for road surface obstructions is it not possible to erect even on a temporary basis speed indicators as have been installed in the area?. In on quarter of an hour between 2.45pm and 3.00pm, I logged 115 passing cars; this is a residential area with child nurseries and elderly residents. A second worry is the junction of Eastern bypass and Lichfield road, Eastern bypass road marking indicate both lanes to Hednesford and Rugeley unfortunately the road after the island merges into one lane creating a race to overtake into the junction first. The Eastern bypass junction should be three lanes, one left to Cannock, one straight on to Hednesford/Rugeley then one right to Lichfield, this situation has seen horns blasting and sharp braking from day one. Your comments would be appreciated." Mr. D. Botfield, Staffordshire County Council will be attending to deal with the question. 8. Questions Received from Member of the Public The following questions have been submitted by Mr. Evans, local resident. 2 (1) The bowling greens at Hednesford Park are cut only once per fortnight and have stopped being used. Will the Council be doing anything in an attempt to try and get the public to use the greens? (2) The cricket square at Hednesford Park is under used and is it going to be re- opened? (3) Some of the fencing at the Park has been repaired, however there is still some fencing that needs repairing. (4) Is it possible for the Park to be closed between certain times, given that it was in the past and the Police are in support of it? (Response attached from Inspector Mat Derrick – Cannock Police). Mr. T. Walsh, Parks and Open Spaces Manager will be attending to deal with the questions. 9. Question from County Councillor The following question has been submitted by County Councillor J O’ Leary. When will work commence on the improvements to Hednesford Park including the Pavillion? Mr. T. Walsh, Parks and Open Spaces Manager will be attending to deal with the question. 10. Forward Agenda for Future Meetings Questions are invited from members of the public and will be included on the next Agenda for the Forum scheduled for Tuesday 10 March, 2009. Map 5: Cannock historic environment character zones (CHECZs) 21 8.1 CHECZ 1 – West of Pye Green 8.1.1 Summary on the historic environment The zone comprises a very large field, as depicted on map 6, which was created during the late 20th century through the removal of earlier internal boundaries. The field system was originally created as planned enclosure following an Act of Parliament to enclose (1868). Prior to this period the landscape had been dominated by heath land which had formed part of Cannock Chase. The nursery and its surrounding boundary also post date the Second World War. This product includes mapping data licensed from Ordnance Survey © Crown copyright and / or database right (2009). Licence no. 100019422 Map 6: The known heritage assets (sites referred to in the text are labelled). Of particular significance is the remains of a bank which follows the western boundary of the zone38. This feature is contiguous with the parish boundary between Huntington and Cannock. It is therefore possible that this bank was constructed in 38 Staffordshire HER: PRN 01039 22 the medieval or post medieval period to physically demarcate the parish bounds or the extent of the medieval manor of Cannock. 8.1.2 Heritage Assets Summary Table Survival The zone has seen moderate disturbance 2 from agricultural practices, although the earthwork bank was surviving in 2000.

Lewis, as historical resource material for schools. Publi­ cation of the volume coincides with the retirement of Roy Lewis, a former Headteacher of Lydney School, Gloucestershire, after some 21 years of service in the Authority as County Inspector for History. When it was first known that he was thinking of a cessation of his Staffordshire duties, a quick count was made of our piles of his 'source books' . Our stock of his well known 'Green Books' (Local History Source Books) and 'Blue Books' (Teachers Guides and Study Books) totalled, amazingly, just over 100 volumes, ·a mountain of his­ torical source material ' made available for use within our schools - a notable achievement. Stimulating, authoritative and challenging, they have outlined our local historical heritage in clear and concise form, and have brought the local history of Staffordshire to the prominence that it justly deserves. These volumes have either been written by him or employed the willing­ ly volunteered services of Staffordshire teachers. Whatever the agency behind the pen it is obvious that forward planning, correlation of text and pictorial aspects, financial considerations for production runs, organisation of print-run time with a busy print room, distri­ bution of booklets throughout Staffordshire schools etc.
