The plant bug Orthotylus (Orthotylus) flavinervis (Kirschbaum, 1856) is reported from Norway for the first time. A reproducing pair (in copula) was found in Hvaler municipality in Viken county in June 2018. Comments on biology, habitat, identification characters, distribution and red list status of the genus Orthotylus Fieber, 1858 in the Nordic countries, are given. Tupiocoris rhododendri (Miridae), Xylocoridea brevipennis (Anthocoridae), Metopoplax fuscinervis (Lygaeidae) en Elasmostethus minor (Acanthosomatidae) zijn nieuw voor de Nederlandse fauna. De tingiden Copium clavicorne en Derephysia sinuatocollis, de anthocoride Amphiareus obscuriceps, de lygaeiden Horvathiolus superbus en Holcocranum saturejae en de pentatomide Stagonomus bipunctatus pusillus werden elders al als Nederlandse soorten genoemd, maar worden hier voor het eerst in detail behandeld. Tupiocoris rhododendri, Stephanitis takeyai en Nysius huttoni zijn exoten, die ons land op niet-natuurlijke wijze hebben bereikt. INTRODUCTION Ce document présente une liste des punaises trouvées dans le territoire du Québec et ses régions adjacentes. Elle résulte d’une revue de la littérature entomologique, d’un inventaire de collections appartenant à des organismes publics et à des entomologistes et d’une recherche sur internet. Provancher fut le premier à publier, de 1885 à 1890, un ouvrage d’identification des punaises pour le Canada, mais il donne très peu d’information sur la répartition des espèces. Uhler (1917) cite 163 espèces pour la province et 286 autres dans les régions adjacentes. Fournier (1950) mentionne que Moore (1950) catalogua 560 espèces et variétées. Hutchinson (1979), en se basant seulement sur la littérature entomologique, produisit une liste préliminaire de 101 punaises aquatiques et subaquatiques du Québec, mais cette liste comporte de nombreuses erreurs. Larochelle (1984) publia un important ouvrage d’identification sur les punaises terrestres du Québec, rapportant 488 espèces; en outre, il annexe une liste de 283 espèces et sous-espèces pouvant se rencontrer dans la province. -

SCUDDER1 ABSTRACT A total of 175 changes to the current checklist of Hemiptera: Heteroptera of Canada and Alaska are reported. Eighty deletions, eighty-eight nomenclature changes, and seven spelling corrections are detailed. In addition, comments are given on Anthocoris tomentosus Péricart, Orius diespeter Herring, O. tristicolor (White), and Tupiocoris agilis (Uhler). Key words: Changes, checklist, Heteroptera, Canada, Alaska INTRODUCTION Maw et al. (2000) published a checklist of the Hemiptera of Canada and Alaska, giving details of the occurrence of the species of Heteroptera. Since then, there have been a large number of taxonomic changes that have resulted in deletions and nomenclature modifications for many of the taxa. In addition, a few spelling errors have been noted. Details of the 175 changes are outlined here, and comments on four taxa are given. The order of taxa follows Maw et al. (2000), but species are listed in alphabetical order in each family. Sieber September 2020 Copyright © Miranda Galey 2020 Abstract Bat fecal samples are a rich source of ecological data for bat biologists, entomologists, and microbiologists. Feces collected from individual bats can be used to profile the gut microbiome using microbial DNA and to understand bat foraging strategies using arthropod DNA. We used eDNA collected from bat fecal samples to better understand bats as predators in the context of their unique gut physiology. We used high through- put sequencing of the COI gene and 16S rRNA gene to determine the diet composition and gut microbiome composition of three bat species in Minnesota: Eptesicus fuscus, Myotis lucifugus and M. septentrionalis. In our analysis of insect prey, we found that E. fuscus consistently foraged for a higher diversity of beetle species compared to other insects. We found that the proportional frequency of tympanate samples from M. septentrionalis and M. lucifugus was similar, while M. septentrionalis consistently preyed more often upon non-flying species. We used the same set of COI sequences to determine presence of pest species, rare species, and insects not previously observed in Minnesota. We were able to combine precise arthropod identification and the for- aging areas of individually sampled bats to observe possible range expansion of some insects. The taxonomic composition of the bat gut microbiome in all three species was found to be consistent with the composition of a mammalian small intestine. -

Durch das freundliche Entgegenkommen von Herrn Kustos C hr . F etzer vom Nassauischen Landesmuseum in Wiesbaden war es mir möglich, den Heteropterenteil der SammlungK irschbaum einer ein gehenden Nachprüfung zu unterziehen. Diese Nachprüfung erstreckte sich nicht nur auf das Material, über das K irschbaum veröffentlicht hat, sondern auch auf die von ihm bestimmten aber nicht veröffent lichten Arten. Die Sammlung K irschbaum enthielt außerdem eine größere Anzahl noch unbearbeiteter Tiere. Diese wurden von mir be stimmt und dann ebenfalls in die vorliegende Arbeit aufgenommen. Das Ergebnis war für mich überraschend. Einerseits mußte ich immer wieder über die Sicherheit staunen, mit der K irschbaum selbst schwierig zu unterscheidende Arten trennte, andererseits aber auch über die Reich haltigkeit der Sammlung, die nur das Ergebnis einer unermüdlichen Sammeltätigkeit sein kann. Selbstverständlich ist nicht nur die KiRSCHBAUMsche Namengebung heute in vielen Fällen veraltet, sondern eine Reihe von Arten ist inzwischen aufgespalten worden, während andere, die man zur Zeit K irschbaums für gute Arten hielt, heute als Abarten erkannt sind. -

wantsen van de nederlandse waddeneilanden iv (hemiptera: heteroptera) Berend Aukema, Dik Hermes, Ping-ping Chen & Nico Nieser Het laatste overzicht van de wantsen van de Nederlandse waddeneilanden dateert van 2004 met aanvullingen in 2009. Een opsomming wordt gegeven van 144 nieuwe eilandrecords, waaronder 12 soorten die voor het eerst op de waddeneilanden zijn waargenomen. Pachycoleus pusillimus (Dipsocoridae) is nieuw voor de Nederlandse lijst. In totaal zijn er nu 375 soorten wantsen van de waddeneilanden bekend. Het aantal op de waddeneilanden waargenomen inleiding soorten stijgt daarmee tot 375. De volgorde pusillimus (Dipsocoridae), Rhabdomiris striatellus, en nomenclatuur van de taxa zijn gebaseerd op de Parapsallus vitellinus, Phylus coryli, Phylus melano- ‘Catalogue of the Heteroptera of the Palaearctic cephalus, Psallus albicinctus en Psallus assimilis Region’ (Aukema & Rieger 1995, 1996, 1999, (Miridae), Anthocoris butleri en Xylocoris galactinus 2001, 2006).
