ROLLING THUNDER® IL CHAPTER 1 GUN BASH May 6, 2017 8 GUNS AN HOUR Proceeds are being used to assist our local Veterans and to publicize the POW/MIA issue. Tickets are $50 each. Limited to only 700 tickets sold. Doors open at 10:00 am. Drawings start at 11:00 a.m. Food and beverages will be available. We will give away 8 guns an hour (32 guns total). Winning tickets are returned to the drum for the next drawing. Yes, you may win more than once. Every ticket is in the drum for each of the 32 drawings. This means 32 chances to win. Winners need not be present. Guns will be delivered at our Federal Firearm Licensee’s retail store: Gander Mountain, 2100 S. Randall Rd, Geneva, IL 60134. Winner is responsible for sales tax and the background check fee. Additional and separate gun side raffles and tickets will be available and occur during the Gun Bash. Rolling Thunder® is not a motorcycle club. To join Rolling Thunder® one does not need a motorcycle, nor be a Veteran. Men and women over 18 years of age are welcome. Quite a few of our members are not veterans. Some of our most favorite people in Rolling Thunder wear a simple patch that reads: “I wasn’t there but I still care.” All one needs is a willingness to work on POW/MIA awareness and helping local veterans. Rolling Thunder® Illinois Chapter 1 1. Activities and accomplishments we have initiated and funded during 2016 are: a. We donated $3,500 to the Nicholas Larsen Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton. b. We donated $2,000 to Task Force Omega. Task Force Omega keeps the POW/MIA mission in the eyes and ears of the Washington DC politicians. Task Force Omega is an organization dedicated to the full accounting and return of all prisoners of war and those missing in action. c. We donated $1,500 to the Manteno State Veterans Home in Manteno, IL. d. We provided $17,000 and installed two mega commercial washing machines at LaSalle Veterans Home in LaSalle, IL. 2. During 2016 we initiated a Veterans Assistance Program that has spent $11,000 assisting our local veterans. 3. We performed the POW/MIA Remembrance Table Ceremony on these occasions: a. Military Appreciation Night with the Kane County Cougars Minor League Baseball Team b. The Big Thunder Run c. At a new Missing In Action memorial dedication in Paris, IL. d. LaSalle Veterans Home, LaSalle, IL. 4. Our present structure allows 95 cents from every fundraising dollar to be spent on the POW/MIA issues and assisting local veterans. Our Chapter does not have administrative expenses such as salaries, perks, bonuses, fees or offices. We are all volunteers who believe in our mission. No one get paid here. 5. We have spent $6000 on billboards which detail the Veterans Crisis Hotline. Dial: 1-800-273-8255 Press 1 6. We provided $2000 so 18 needy veteran families could enjoy a Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the fixings. 7. We have provided $1500 in personal care and toiletry items for the formerly homeless veterans now at Concord Place, Northlake, IL. 8. We installed a $2,200 Missing In Action memorial for a soldier lost in Viet Nam since 1968. 9. We installed POW/MIA Chairs of Honor at Soldier Field, at LaSalle Veterans Home and at the Joliet Slammers. Visit www.rollingthunderil1.com/ncontact.html to view our charitable pedigree. Rolling Thunder® Mission Statement The major function of Rolling Thunder®, Inc. is to publicize the POW/MIA issue: To educate the public that many American Prisoners of War were left behind after all previous wars, and to help correct the past and to protect future veterans from being left behind should they become Prisoners Of War or Missing In Action.
