  • The Grand 2008 the Grand Is an Improv Comedy Film Directed by Zak Penn
The grand 2008 The Grand is an improv comedy film directed by Zak Penn. According to Penn, the film is styled after those of Christopher Guest , [2] where each actor is given direction concerning their character, and the actors are left to improvise each individual scene. The plot of The Grand was somewhat more open-ended than Guest's work, however. The focus of the film is a poker tournament played at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas between the characters in which real poker matches were played by the actors as the scenes were filmed. The film's script did not specify the winner of the tournament, and the ending of the film was determined by the actual game played on set. Jack Faro Woody Harrelson is a recovering drug addict who, after many relapses, decides to move into a rehabilitation facility full-time. Having been married 75 times, he is a serial husband and is always on the lookout for number The rest of the players "won" their seats in an online poker tournament. Other contestants include Andy Andrews Richard Kind , a math teacher, Deuce Fairbanks Dennis Farina , a wily old veteran of Vegas, and "The German" Werner Herzog , a cheater who ritualistically sacrifices small animals to gain luck at cards. The film received mixed reviews from critics. The website's critics consensus reads: " The Grand has moments of comic ingenuity, but the jokes in this poker satire often miss. From “Discourses of Sobriety” to Deadpan Comedy: Christopher Guest’s Musical ... 1 From “Discourses of Sobriety” to Deadpan Comedy: Christopher Guest’s Musical Trilogy Charles Holdefer The idea was, “Wouldn’t it be fun to do a movie where people got this right for a change?” Harry Shearer, aka bass player “Derek Smalls” of Spinal Tap (Muir 2004: 25) 1 The entertainment industry has long been fascinated by the “truth” behind popular music. Indeed, the first feature length talking film, The Jazz Singer (Crosland 1927), starred Al Jolson as Jakie Rabinowitz, a young man struggling to reconcile his Jewish identity to his success at performing in blackface to white audiences. Since then, there has been an endless stream of movies about music. Some are explicitly biographical, with actors cast as iconic musicians: e.g., The Glenn Miller Story (Mann 1954), The Buddy Holly Story (Rash 1978), Ray (Hackford 2004), Walk the Line (Mangold 2005) and Bohemian Rhapsody (Singer 2018).

You’ve seen her in Beetlejuice and Home Alone and pretty much every Christopher Guest movie. She is—and this is not an exaggeration—one of the funniest people alive. Recently, Catherine won a much-deserved Emmy for her lead role on the TV show Schitt’s Creek. That’s S-C- H-I-T-T, by the way. It’s a show about a wealthy family, the Roses, who are forced to relocate to a tiny, rural town after losing their entire fortune. For all of its six seasons, Catherine played Moira Rose—mother to David and Alexis, wife to Johnny Rose—played by Eugene Levy. She was, of course, terrific on the show. 00:01:01 Sound Transition Music swells and fades. Effect 00:01:02 Clip Clip Johnny (Schitt’s Creek): Moira. [Moira moans softly.] Johnny: Moira! • Accidentally in Love’
‘ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE’ CAST BIOS JENNIE GARTH (Annie) – Jennie Garth skyrocketed to stardom with her role as Kelly Taylor on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” The show became a ratings juggernaut, lasting 10 seasons, and garnering Garth two Young Artist Award nominations. It remains one of the most successful television series ever produced. Garth reprised her role as Kelly in the CW’s new spin-off series, “90210,” but this time she is all grown up and working as the school guidance counselor at West Beverly High. Garth also competed on ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars,” in 2007. Her newfound moves and loyal fans made her a crowd favorite and kept her in the competition through the semi-finals. Garth also recently starred opposite Andrea Bowen in Lifetime Network’s “Girl, Positive” which was the network’s highest-rated movie in 2007. In 2002, Garth made her comedy debut as the straight-laced sister of Amanda Bynes in the WB’s “What I Like About You.” The series concluded in 2006 after a four-season run. In addition, Garth made several appearances alongside Jennifer Connolly, Adam Goldberg and Tom Everett Scott on Fox’s “The $treet,” produced by Darren Starr. The talent Garth displayed on the iconic “Beverly Hills, 90210” opened up additional professional doors. Garth’s first starring role in a TV movie was “Danielle Steel’s Star,” which launched NBC’s fall 1993 schedule and garnered the highest ratings for a season premiere for NBC since 1989. Later that year Garth starred in and executive produced “Without Consent,” an entertaining and educational telepic for ABC.
