It’s a high- tech solution to a time-consuming, labor-intensive building process. KHS&S has spent years perfecting a system that integrates all phases of design, fabrication and installation into a lean process. Using scanning and proprietary software, KHS&S creates digital representations of original rockwork designs. Data is then manipulated and broken down into sections to create individual building panels, which are then fabricated to exact dimensions, labeled and sent to the job site and installed. The result is precise and consistent replication of the original design. 4 Lowers costs and increases control 4 Reduces construction time 4 Reduces waste 4 Can be used for any organic shape 4 Uses just-in-time manufacturing 4 Fully documented and integrated quality control system 4 Controlled by digital data through all phases of the process for further accuracy 4 Allows data reusability for consistent construction among multiple projects 4 Uses clash detection to ensure accurate fabrication and installation LEANUSING TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE WASTE AND IMPROVE QUALITY ROCK & WATER FEATURE EXPERIENCE BUSCH GARDENS CHEETAH HUNT TAMPA, FLORIDA 4 Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage, CA 4 Oasis Casino, Gulfport, MS 4 Atlantis Casino Resort, Reno, NV 4 Outfield Extravaganza at Angels Stadium, Anaheim, CA 4 Aulani Resort & Spa, Oahu, HI 4 Palazzo Casino Resort, Las Vegas, NV 4 Bass Pro Shops, Various US Locations 4 Pechanga Casino Resort, Temecula, CA 4 Borgata Casino, Atlantic City, NJ 4 Pirate-Themed Island, Anaheim, CA 4 Buffalo Thunder Casino Resort, Santa Fe, NM 4 Red Rock Casino Resort, Las Vegas, NV 4 Busch Gardens, Cheetah Hunt, Tampa, FL 4 Resort at Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV 4 Cache Creek Casino & Resort, Brooks, CA 4 Riverside Medical Building, Riverside, CA 4 Chumash Casino Resort, Santa Ynez, CA 4 San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, Highland, CA 4 Del Amo Fashion Mall, Torrance, CA 4 Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, CA 4 Desert Passage, Las Vegas, NV 4 Simi Valley Town Center, Simi Valley, CA 4 Fashion Fair Mall, Fresno, CA 4 The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, NV 4 Fashion Valley Mall, San Diego, CA 4 Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln, CA 4 Glendale Market Place, Glendale, CA 4 T-Rex Café, Downtown Disney, Orlando, FL 4 Hillside Memorial Park, Los Angeles, CA 4 Turnberry Towers Phase II, Las Vegas, NV 4 Jungle Ride Attraction, Anaheim, CA 4 Underwater Attraction at California Themepark, 4 Los Angeles Zoo - Sea Lion Exhibit, Los Angeles, CA Anaheim, CA 4 Lost City at Miracle Mile Shops, Las Vegas, NV 4 University Town Center, San Diego, CA 4 Louisiana River Walk, Bossier City, LA 4 WaterDance Plaza at Westgate City, Glendale, AZ 4 Morongo Casino, Cabazon, CA 4 Whittwood Mall, Whittier, CA 4 Movie Themed Attraction, Anaheim, CA 4 WinStar World Casino, Thackerville, OK 4 Movie-Themed Dark Ride Attraction, Anaheim, CA and Orlando, FL 50+KHS&S HAS COMPLETED MORE THAN 50 ROCK & WATER FEATURE PROJECTS Design-Assist | Interiors | Exteriors | Themed Construction | Water Feature & Rockwork Construction | Prefabrication www.khss.com.

The presentation was made at the November 19 Council meeting and Vinny was given a standing ovation by all present. Vinny De La Torre was also recognized by receiving France’s Legion of Honor, the coun - try’s highest honor, on November 11, 2018, in recognition for his service with Gen. George Patton’s Third Army during WWII. Vinny was in more than 200 days of contin - uous combat, liberating many French cities and in 1945, was part of the division that fought at the Battle of the Bulge and liberated two concentration camps, Buchenwald and Ebensee. He was almost 21 years old at that time. Like many of the WW II generation, Vinny kept much of this story to himself. But in recent years his family, mostly his grandchil - dren, slowly obtained bits and pieces of his service. They conducted some research and provided it to the French Consulate General who, after reviewing it for over a year, made the presentation to Vinny on November 11 at the National Cemetery in West Los Angeles.

Our region is fortunate to have rich soils, a year-round growing season, and a commitment to protecting our valuable farmlands. These assets are more important than ever in a world of rising energy and food costs, climate change, and growing concerns about food safety and food security. Like other areas on the urban fringe, however, there is enormous pressure to pave over farmland, and our farmers are stretched thin by complex regulations, weather and water uncertainties, labor shortages, and global price competition. Buying locally grown foods won’t solve all our problems, but it’s a great step in the right direction.
