    CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE Together “Since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other and each of us needs all the others” (Romans 12:5) British Isles – – – SUMMER 2010 ASSEMBLY REPORTS District Assemblies were held over the weekend 12th-15th March in Morley and Paisley. South District Superintendent, Rev David Montgomery, brought his first report to the Assembly with the challenge to “…remain in Christ”. As Jesus said, “…if a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit…” (John 15:5). Special features of the assembly were the times of prayer for each pastor, and a question and answer session with members of the District Advisory Board. A weekend of Conventions and Rallies characterised the North Assembly, Times of Prayer at the South Assembly which followed the theme, The Church in Community, Evangelism, Worship, & Mission. Rev Colin H. Wood, brought his 18th report as District Superintendent and recognised the great need for God’s Spirit to move in the land and across the district, and that God’s Call would come to many to offer themselves for the pastoral ministry. TAC (Teledwyr Annibynnol Cymru) represents the independent television production sector in Wales. Our sector is a highly important element of the creative industries in Wales and the UK overall, providing economic, social and cultural benefits through supplying creative content. There are around 50 companies in the sector, ranging from sole traders to some of the leading players in the UK production industry. They produce content for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky as well as other commercial broadcasters. They produce almost all of the original television and online media content for the Welsh-language broadcaster S4C, and a variety of radio productions for UK-wide networks. 2. In recent years, Wales’ reputation as a centre of first-class drama production has grown significantly with productions such as 15 Days, Un Bore Mercher / Keeping Faith, Bang, Craith / Hidden and Y Gwyll / Hinterland. Our sector also offers a great deal of expertise in genres such as factual documentary, children’s programmes, sport and entertainment. Overseas programme and format sales have increased, and our members are also experienced in international co-productions. As with all industries, the TV production sector has faced significant challenges due to the impact of Covid-19 and the introduction of necessary social distancing measures.     President: Vice President: No. 480 - September 2012 Simon Russell Beale CBE Nickolas Grace Price 50p when sold Out and About with the Vic-Wells Shakespeare at the British Museum There will be a Vic-Wells visit to the British Museum’s current exhibition Shakespeare: staging the world on Monday, 1st October 2012. The exhibition provides a new insight into the emerging role of London as a world city four hundred years ago, interpreted through the innovative perspective of Shakespeare’s plays - and features over 190 objects. The exhibition creates a unique dialogue between these objects drawn from the museum’s collection. Great paintings, rare manuscripts, maps, drawings, armour, coins and other intriguing objects are all examined through the lens of Shakespeare’s plays. Shakespeare: staging the world also explores the theatre-going experience at the time. The newly built playhouses were situated in the suburbs: Bankside was an area with a dangerous and notorious reputation. The theatres needed to attract large numbers of playgoers and so performances had to appeal to a wide spectrum of society, from groundlings to courtiers. Objects excavated from the sites of the Globe and Rose theatres, such as a sucket fork for sweetmeats and the skull of a bear, illustrate the Southwark of Shakespeare’s day, the cultural world inhabited by the playhouse, which rubbed shoulders with bear-baiting arenas as well as brothels and pubs. The British Museum has produced, working with the Royal Shakespeare Company, a series of new digital interventions which appear throughout the exhibition, allowing visitors to encounter Shakespeare’s words and characters alongside the objects on The Lyte Jewel display.

The research objectives were as follows: •To explore the frequency of alcohol use on British soaps aired on non-satellite UK television •To investigate the positive and negative portrayal of alcohol •To explore the percentage of interactions that involve alcohol •To explore the percentage of each episode that involves alcohol •To assess how many characters drink over daily guidelines •To explore the relationship between alcohol and the characters who regularly/excessively consume alcohol •To look further into the link between the location of alcohol consumption and the consequences depicted •To identify and analyse the repercussions, if any, of excessive alcohol consumption shown •To explore the frequency of tea use on British soaps aired on non-satellite UK television •Six weeks of footage was collected for each programme from 26th July to 6th September 2010 and analysed for verbal and visual instances of alcohol and tea. •In total 21.5 hours was collected and analysed for Emmerdale, 15.5 hours for Coronation Street, 15.5 hours for Hollyoaks and 13 hours for Eastenders. © 2010 Kantar Media 3 INTRODUCTION cont. •A coding sheet was formulated in conjunction with Drinkaware before the footage was analysed which enabled us to track different types of beverages and their size (e.g.
