MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (December 28th, 2018) JDC-Miller MotorSports confirmed today that 23-year-old California native Gustavo Menezes will join the team for the 2018 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in the No. 99 Red Dragon JDC-Miller MotorSports GAINSCO insurance entry. Menezes is considered one of the brightest American talents in International Motorsport and won the 2016 LMP2 FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the 2016 24 Hours of the LeMans in the LMP2 category as an Alpine LMP2 manufacture driver. Menezes was recently announced as one of the drivers for Rebellion Racing’s 2018 LMP1 program. In 2017 Gustavo scored 3 wins and 8 podium finishes to follow up his 2016 World Championship winning campaign in which he earned 4 wins and 7 podium finishes. “Gustavo was the driver we wanted to complete the # 99 driver line-up for Daytona and we super excited that he will come and race with us at Daytona,” commented JDC-Miller MotorSports team Principal John Church. “We first got to know Gustavo when he was competing in the US in the Mazda Road to Indy and have followed his career since he moved to Europe. Obviously his success and accomplishments speak for themselves, but for us it was also important that he has raced at Daytona several times and knows the car very well”, Church explained.

In Sunday’s IMSA Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at ‘Watkins Glen International’ (USA), BMW Team RLL scored a fifth place finish with the #24 BMW M8 GTE of John Edwards (USA) and Jesse Krohn (FIN). The #25 BMW M8 GTE of To m B l o m q v i s t (GBR) and Connor De Phillippi (USA) was credited with a seventh place finish after retiring from the race on lap 159. The race was won by the #911 Porsche. During refueling in the pits, a fire broke out on the #25 BMW M8 GTE, which was brought under control by BMW Team RLL and nobody was injured. The fire may require the build of a spare chassis in the few days remaining before the team is scheduled to arrive at ‘Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’ for the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix this coming Thursday. The #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 missed a second consecutive GTD class win at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen by only 0.676 seconds after a strong closing stint by Bill Auberlen (USA) and great opening drives by Robby Foley and Dillon Machavern (both USA).

(Sept. 15, 2019) --- WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca proved a particularly apt track name for Michelin teams in IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and MICHELIN Pilot Challenge series competitors this weekend. The sandy, abrasive, notoriously low-grip but high-wear surface is a known quantity to most competitors. However, unseasonably warm temperatures on Friday threw a curveball as teams worked to optimize both their MICHELIN® tire strategy in tandem with fuel strategy for the pair of races. Extreme swings occurred throughout the weekend. On Friday, Michelin engineers recorded temperatures as high as 93 degrees ambient and 115 degrees track. Sunday morning, the coldest session of the weekend occurred in warm-up with temperatures of 57 ambient and 60 track. Sunday’s race was more normal with temperatures in the low 70s ambient and mid 80s on track. These variances make it challenging for a team’s tire strategy and ask the tire to perform consistently in wide-ranging conditions. For this race, Michelin and IMSA coordinated to bring the MICHELIN® Pilot® Sport GT S8M commercial slicks back in action for the WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona and Pilot Challenge GS classes after running the S9M over the summer months. However, Michelin maintained its IMSA Hard tire for DPi and LMP2 competitors, and the Pilot Challenge TCR remained on the harder S9M compound as they have all season. The mix of tires still helped teams continue to set lap records in both qualifying and the two races.

BMW Team RLL drivers Connor De Phillippi and Bruno Spengler shared the duo’s first ever podium with a second-place finish in today’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR. The pair, driving the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE, completed 85 laps around Virginia International Raceway in the two-hour-and- forty-minute race, finishing 3.5 seconds behind the winning No. 3 Corvette. Teammates John Edwards and Jesse Krohn fell victim to a mechanical issue early in the race and ultimately finished 19 laps down. The story of the day and the 2020 IMSA seasons so far was the victory in the GTD class by Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3. The win marked Auberlen’s 61st IMSA victory and moves the driver synonymous with The Ultimate Driving Machine® to the top of the standings in all-time IMSA victories.
