Union government is planning to set up India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) at Pottipuram in Theni District, Tamil Nadu. Objective is to set up a 51000 ton Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector.It will be the first neutrino detector in India. 6. Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the architectural illumination of the historic Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi. 7. Coal minister Prahlad Josh informed that government is planning to increase the total production of coal in the country to one billion tones by 2022-23. Meghalaya became the first Indian state to draft a water policy to ensure water conservation, issues and protection of water resources in the State.The approved policy intended to achieve sustainable development by Meghalaya state government. 3. First-ever Himalayan States Conclave will be hosted by Uttarakhand on July 28, 2019 at Mussoorie.The main Objective of this conclave is to focus on sustainable development of the Indian Himalayan Region. 4. Tamil Nadu to form two new districts and the total number of districts in the state will be raised to 35.Tenkasi District would be carved out of Tirunelveli and Chengalpet District would be established by splitting Kanchipuram district. 5. State Bank of India (SBI) has waived the charges on National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transactions through YONO, Internet, and mobile banking.This will be effective from July 1. 2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed fine on State Bank of India (SBI) of Rs 7 cr and Union Bank of India of Rs 10 lakh for violating certain regulatory guidelines. 3. Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) introduced a web-based application system for contribution from the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS).Aimed to improve the turnaround time and increase transparency.SIDBI is the implementing agency for FFS with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore on behalf of the Government of India. 4. Andhra Bank launched its Artificial Intelligence interactive assistant — ABHi. The Bank's AI powered chatbot-ABHi uses latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithm to understand the customer query and fetch the relevant information from possible knowledgebase in a matter of milliseconds. 5. ICICI Bank launched a new digital platform specially for MSMEs and self-employed customers to enable them to undertake their business banking transactions digitally and instantly named ‘‘InstaBIZ”. 6. Standard Chartered will become first foreign bank to launch operations at International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) located at the Gujarat International Finance Tech City (GIFT City). 7. HDFC Bank and Common Services Centres (CSCs) launched a co-branded ‘Small Business Money-Back Credit Card’. This Co-branded credit card is for small traders and village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs). BUSINESS & FINANCE 1. HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company and Muthoottu Mini Financiers Ltd announced the tie-up for the distribution of HDFC ERGO’s range of non-life insurance offerings for the customers of the NBFC through its network branches. 2. Asian Development Bank lowered the GDP growth rate of India from 7.2% to 7% for the current fiscal. 3. Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) has signed an agreement to acquire AI firm Lymbyc Solutions for Rs 38 crore. 4. BSE has inked a pact with Haryana government to encourage and support state's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to raise capital. Objective is to facilitate SMEs in raising funds through BSE's dedicated platform for SME's -- BSE SME .
