UNIVERSITY BUILDING LEADERSHIP

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY Faculty leadership  Seniors faculty members are members of different committees formulated by HEC and PEC to improve the curriculum and quality of education (accreditation).  Faculty members are active members of different organizations which are trying to improve the standards of education and research e.g. PEC and PIChE. Student leadership Students are encouraged to join various community and social organizations for developing leadership. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & EMERGING TECHNOLOGY Department community interaction: College management is continuously interacting with the industry as well as international faculty to incorporate and improve new trends and enrich the curriculum. Department’s role in building community: College faculty is actively participating in different bodies constituted under the law to put an impact to improve the quality standards of education and technical requirements for the betterment of community Alumni affairs: Outstanding achievements etc. DIRECTORATE OF STUDENTS AFFAIRS Student leadership The Annual Report of Directorate of Students Affairs from 01.10.2010 to 30.09.2011submitted according to format Chapter No.11 (Students Leadership Co-curricular Activities). Punjab University students participated in various Inter Varsity Competitions at national level in the categories of & English Debates, Arts Competitions, Qiraat & Naat, Skit & Mine, etc. The selection of students was purely on merit as directed by the Worthy Vice-Chancellor. (B) - Brief Summary of Competitions (Inter Departmental) and Programs Organized by Directorate of Students Affairs (STC) from 1st October, 2010 to 30th September, 2011 in the University. Reception ceremony to the newly admitted students of B.A./B.S. & M.A./M.S. for the year 2010-2011 was held on October 14, 2010 at Faisal Auditorium. A program with Lord Nazir Ahmad, 1st Muslim Member of House of Lords was organized on 29-10-2010 at Faisal Auditorium presided by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mujahid Kamran. A program “Chand Yaadain Chand Baatain” was organized on January 27, 2011 at Faisal Auditorium in honor of Ex Vice-Chancellors of Punjab University. Inter Departmental Seerat-Un-Nabi (S.A.W.W.) Quiz Competition was organized on March 2, 2011 at Centre for Undergraduate Studies in which students of twenty five departments participated. A program on the topic “HUB-E-RASOOL S.A.W.W. AUR US KAY TAQAZAY” was organized regarding Seerat un Nabi (S.A.W.W.) on March 10 2011 at Faisal Auditorium. The Eminent Muslim Scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel delivered his speech on the said topic for about two hours. Hafiz Marghoob Ahmad Hamdani recited the Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool S.A.W.W. Thousands of peoples were present in and out side Faisal Auditorium A Mehfil-e-Mushaira was held on May 5, 2011 at Faisal Auditorium in which famous poets of participated. Mr. , Chairman, National Language Authority was the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Vice-Chancellor presided over the program. The guests poets were Shehzad Ahmad, Salim Kashir, Anwar Masood, , , Safdar Saleem Sial, Younas Ahqar, Najeeb Ahmad, Aslam Kolsari, Inam ul Haq Javed, Ms. Bushra Ijaz, Rashid Mateen, Khalid Masood, Ali Asghar Abbas, Imran Naqvi, Zahid Fakhri and Ms. Saima Kamran. A lunch was hosted in the honor of guests poets by the Vice Chancellor Porf. Dr. Mujahid Kamran.

(C)-INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS / CONFERENCES. (i) 100 Member Pakistan Youth Delegation to China – April 15- May 02, 2011. Four students of Punjab University visited china. (ii) 1st OIC Inaugural Debating Championship 13th to 20th December, 2010 at International Islamic University Kualumpur, Malaysia. A team of Punjab University students recommended by HEC participated in this championship. The team members were Syed Shamoon Ahmad (College of Pharmacy), Sharreh Qazi, Law College and Fahad Ali Kazmi, Institute of Administrative Sciences. The team was ranked in top 15 out of 40 teams. (iii) First International Model of OIC, International Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey from 11-07-2011 to 17-07-2011. Mr. Sharreh Qazi and Mr. Usman Virk of University Law College attended the conference. (D)-VISITS. (i) A delegation of Punjab University talented students led by The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran visited Chief Minister’s House in December, 2010. (ii) A delegation of positions holder students from Khyber Pakhtoon Kwa, Sind and Balochistan visited Punjab University on the invitation of Honorable Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on 24th December, 2010. (iii) A group of students performed in various events regarding Independence Day on 14th August, 2011 at Governor House, . (E)-ADMISSIONS 2010-2011. Director Students Affairs Office published admission guide book 2010 to facilitate the admission seekers. About 7,000/- copies of admission guide book 2010 were distributed among the students free of cost. The officers and staff of Directorate of Students Affairs were deputed on admission stalls to provide necessary information about admission in Punjab University in the months of August and September, 2010. Director Students Affairs office coordinated the Admission Committee for reserve seats on the basis of Co-curricular Activities. The students were recommended for admission against seats reserved for Qirat, Naat, Quiz and Urdu/English debates, singing etc. after trials by the selection committee. (F)- ACCOMMODATION FACILITY AT STC. The Directorate of Students Affairs in STC Halls maintained its old tradition to host the students delegations. The rooms were provided to the faculty members and officials of others universities as well guests of Punjab University faculty members and officials Three Halls and Eight Guests Room are available in STC. During the year 2010–2011, the total 57 students delegations/study tours of different Universities and Colleges of Pakistan stayed in STC Halls:

The Directorate of Students Affairs also hosted educationists who stayed in the Guest Rooms of STC during their visit to Punjab University for academic & non-academic purposes. During the period from 1st October 2010 to 30th September 2011, the Directorate of Students Affairs accommodated 209 guests educationists.
